[After a week, Xena has adjusted to rather well to living with toddler. More accurately, she’s allowed herself to admit that she really cares. To herself, at least. And to Steve. And their daughter, Lysandra.

But she wasn’t intending to make a big display of it for the whole castle, like some people do. Her affection is more quiet and subtle than that.

And that’s why it’s pretty obvious that this isn’t an intentional journal entry. Xena had quite unintentionally knocked the journal over while tucking Lysandra in. Because of that one simple mistake, you are all treated to something very rarely heard: Xena singing a lullaby.



And then, when she notices that the journal is open this is followed by a whispered:]

Son of a Bacchae.

[Way to ruin the moment, Xena.]

Heh. Thanks. I haven't had much reason to sing lately, I guess.

Sure, but he wasn't the only one who talked about 'em. They're kind of hard to ignore.

Bacchae? [He's whispering.]

[Whispered back:] Yeah, you know. [Vague hand gestures here.] Bacchae. Crazy women devoted to Bacchus?

Oh. I never heard of it before. [Yep still whispering.]

[Steve, you derp. She'll just gesture for him to follow her out into the main room of...whoever's room they modified.]

It's a Greek thing.

[Probably Steve. He has to keep a home for the family! or something. Anyways he'll be heading on out after her.]

Yeah? Hey that reminds me. Do you know where her name comes from?

I have many skills. This just isn't one I get to use often.

True, there is sometimes little room for song in battle, though it is the space between them that needs it most.

I think the last time I did sing was at a funeral.

Though at least this is somewhat of a happier occasion.
