[After a week, Xena has adjusted to rather well to living with toddler. More accurately, she’s allowed herself to admit that she really cares. To herself, at least. And to Steve. And their daughter, Lysandra.

But she wasn’t intending to make a big display of it for the whole castle, like some people do. Her affection is more quiet and subtle than that.

And that’s why it’s pretty obvious that this isn’t an intentional journal entry. Xena had quite unintentionally knocked the journal over while tucking Lysandra in. Because of that one simple mistake, you are all treated to something very rarely heard: Xena singing a lullaby.

And then, when she notices that the journal is open this is followed by a whispered:]

Son of a Bacchae.

[Way to ruin the moment, Xena.]

Thanks. It's not something I get to sing often.

Really? [She makes a 'hmm' noise.] Son or daughter?

Daughter. Her name's Lysandra.

Beautiful name. How do you feel about it? [She doesn't mean the name.]

I don't deserve it.

Somehow I'm not surprised to hear you say that. Who's the father?

His name's Steve Rogers. I'd never met him before, but he seems like a good guy.

[Guess who did a speed dating thing with him...] The skinny kid. Yeah. I remember him being nice.

Yeah, that's the one.

What about you?

Helen's back so things are okay.

How old is she?

Four. She's smart.

With a mom like hers? Of course, she is.

I appreciate the flattery.

Wouldn't say if if I didn't mean it.

I know. Would it be insincere to compliment your daughter without meeting her? If she is anything like you I only have high expectations.

We could fix that, you know. The you not having met her part, I mean.

Where should we meet?

How about the garden?

Sure. I like it out there.

We'll meet you there, then.

Alright. [Elektra will be heading over there with her little blond toddler. She's carrying around a wooden sword like a boss.]

[And Xena will meet her with her little dark haired toddler. Who is more keen on looking around and exploring than hanging on to her mother's hand.]

Hey.

Hey. [Helen will be sizing the pair up.] Where's her sword? [That's the most important thing about this scene to a four year old.]
