Hey - does anyone know anything about gluing fur to walls? My dad totally made this look way easier.

[Admittedly, Alex does get some pretty stupid ideas, at a rate of maybe five per day. Papering her bedroom walls with hot pink faux fur? Not one of her better ones. It's part of her somewhat impulsive attempt to further recreate her own room back at home. But of course, Alex has no idea what she's even doing. That's why there's a drop of wallpaper glue seeping into the journal, and little tufts of pink hair littering the hall right outside her door.

[Mumbled: ] I know my wand's around here somewhere...

Is there a reason you want your walls to be soft?

[She thinks about this.]

Not really. Just trying to recreate my room from back home, kind of.

Are you feeling homesick?

[delincuente]

[... Yeah, okay, she doesn't do sad.]

Isn't everybody?

[chancing]

[ she takes a moment to think about this. ] I don’t think I am. There are some things here that have kept me from missing my home very much.

You mean like, stuff that's better here than there?

[chancing]

That's exactly it. Where I am from many of the things here have not even been invented yet and I think they are very impressive.

So are you from, like, the 80s or something?

[Serious question.]

1486, actually. [ serious answer. ]

[Alex has retained basically nothing about anything before the 1960s or so.]

So do you drive one of those stone pedal car things?

[chancing]

Very serious. [ a pause. ] What is a car?

[delincuente]

[Hold on, she's never had to explain this before.]

It's this metal thing, that you can travel in by pushing down this other thing. And there are wheels, and you have to put gasoline in it.

[chancing]

I don't think I have ever heard of anything like that....

[delincuente]

Yeah, well they didn't have them in the Stone Age.

[chancing]

The Stone Age? Is that what my time is called in the future?

[delincuente]

I think so, yeah.

[chancing]

Why would it be called that?

[delincuente]

'Cause people used rocks for everything, or something like that.

[chancing]

That does not sound completely accurate.

... Eh. My bad.

[chancing]

Bad at what? [ she has never heard the expression 'my bad' before. she has absolutely no idea what it means. ]
