[It's a bit late to be in the kitchen, really. But Mistress is a somewhat nocturnal creature (the night time is the best time for large and elaborate parties, after all), and she gets a little bored when the lobby calms down in the evening.

So tonight, she's decided to explore the kitchen. And though she's from medieval times, it's not the microwave or the refrigerator that's caught her eye. Oh no.]

What are all these foods, exactly? So many of them, in so many layers of wrapping.

[You see, Mistress is used to less-processed food, served with goblets of wine and mead. More modern foods have piqued her curiosity! She's currently sitting on the counter in the kitchen, journal perched in her lap.

Every single piece of processed cheese in the refrigerator has been unwrapped and laid out methodically. Ding-Dongs and Swiss Rolls have been stacked into thoughtful pyramids, with swords stuck through them. There's a large and explicit painting on the floor, done entirely in condiments (mayonnaise and a pickle have been put to particularly good use). Potato chips seem to have been of particular interest, as Mistress has opened and tried every flavor she found in the cupboards.

There are some greasy streaks in the journal as she wipes her hands.]

Are things not made fresh here? Everything seems to be in its own little bag and stored. And who created this barbeque potato chip? I need to know.

Interesting. You don't look like a demon.

Appearences can be decieving.

Of course. But where I come from, demons are always rather obviously demons.

Oh, I've got a demonic form, but if I let ol' Belthazor out to play, someone'll get hurt. Trying to kick the whole evil gig.

Besides, my human form is handsomer.

I've no doubt. I can honestly say that attractive demons are beyond rare.

Is there a reason you're abandoning your old ways?

[demontobeloved]

I lost the reason when I came here.

[themistress]

Then why keep it up? [Her tone isn't malicious so much as just darkly curious.]

I'm used to it, and when you get to my age, it's hard to change stuff you're used to.

[themistress]

Hmmn, I suppose. [Really, she thinks it would be harder to give up doing evil in favor of doing good.] What does a demon who's given up evil do here?

[demontobeloved]

Be a general nuisance. The castle's shown that it's all too eager to help me with the being good, thing. At least, until it gets bored.

[themistress]

What do you mean?

[demontobeloved]

It turned me into a guardian angel for three weeks.

[themistress]

Guardian angel?

[demontobeloved]

Yeah. Inverted all my powers, made me stick by their pointless constraining rules, and I had a list of Charges I had to help and guide.

[themistress]

Help and guide, as in...? [She's hoping the answer has to do with manual stimulation, but she feels like she's going to be disappointed.]

The normal way. Though it was more like they purposfully got in trouble.

[themistress]

But why would you mind, if you're already trying to be "good"?

[demontobeloved]

Well, there's helping people out, and there's being forced to help them out.

[themistress]

So... it's more of an opportunistic standpoint on "doing good".

[demontobeloved]

Well, doing good usually comes with a sense of achievement, or so I'm told.

When I was forced to do good, I was just annoyed.

[themistress]

Doesn't doing bad come with the same feeling? Or... well, I guess "bad" is subjective, isn't it?

[demontobeloved]

Murdering innocents, regardless of the subject, is generally considered "bad". And the jury's still out on that. I'll get back to you.

Unless you're slaughtering infants, chances of them being "innocent" are slim to none.
