Chapter Eleven- Behind the Mystery

[The library’s relatively quiet today. That is, until there’s a bang as a book falls to the floor. Chaucer’s obviously not making a scene on purpose for once. In fact, he really looks like he doesn’t want anyone to see him. Although, it’s hard not to notice a man carrying an armful of books.

To anyone who steals a book, peeks over his shoulder, or maybe even picks up the dropped book for him, they’ll notice most of the books are on World War II, the United States of America, and weaponry.

Because instead of giving a kiss goodbye, Geoff’s boyfriend assigned homework.

He sits down at a table and reads for a few minutes before remembering he had some hot journal action to do.]

[And then, to the entire castle:] Has anyone ever attempted to look themselves up in the library? I'd rather not find out when I die or anything like that.

[Pause] Then I'd stay away from most books that discuss classic literature.

Hm. Perhaps I have. Uses a lot of big words? A lot of rules? Always a great deal of begating?

That's the one, it's a dreadful bore of a thing.

[Oh, he really can] Sure, you're talked about in literary classrooms the world over.

Geoffrey Chaucer, known as the Father of English Literature, is best considered to be the greatest poet of the Middle Ages.

[He reads that and snaps his book shut, murmuring under his breath.] Son of a-

[He wishes up a quill and some ink and writes back.]

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, it is a stupid one.

...And you're supposed to be the greatest poet of the Middle Ages, and all you can call me is stupid? I expected better.

[He stops writing that last one because that reminds him too much of his conversations Bucky.]

Take your pick. Or perhaps you would prefer a more creative one? You, sir or madam, are a no-good, lily-livered scoundrel and coward. Feel better?

Well, at least you can come up with something when you think hard enough about it. [He catches that, Geoff. And he's not sure what it makes him feel. Well...time to find out!]

And why did you stop calling me an 'idiot'?

[There's a pause where there's just a dot on the page where his quill is resting.]

Excellent. [He pauses, nervous, then plunges on right ahead.]

[A slight pause because he's honestly surprised]

Hm. I'm usually better at picking up on that sort of thing...

Well...shall I offer you a congratulations, or are you blaming me? [Lightly teasing, because he's not sure why Chaucer is telling him this yet]

I honestly had no idea myself until I found myself wanting to kiss him.

[He chuckles.] Congratulations would certainly be welcome, but I told you for another reason. I need advice.

[There's a small pause. This was a little embarrassing.]

Ah... well, see, I've never been in a relationship before. And I don't know... when the appropriate time would be to bring the topic up.

[Another pause.]
