[And in the middle of the night, there's a loud gasping breath of air as a body moves from a bed.]

Nick-- [A breath. Wasn't she just sitting in a chair? With a gun? Just how long was she out?

A pause. A long pause.

And soon there would be the cocking of a gun, footsteps moving across her floor, and a door opening. Minutes would pass before Kalinda finds herself sitting on her bed, glaring down at the open journal at her side.

In an annoyed, tired, and subtly frustrated tone masked in neutrality, she'll continue the accidental dictation with full intention.]

And here I thought I was home.

I'm feeling generous.

That sounds promising.

[She's shuffling about because gosh she needs new clothes and oh man she probably needs a shower after a month of sleep I mean come on!]

Okay, see you in a few.

Take your time. I'll be at the Death Match. [Because the location is convenient!

And she'll be waiting...............!]

[OKAY, SO SHE SHOWERED AND BRUSHED HER TEETH AND PUT ON MAKEUP AND CLOTHES but didn't take an excessively long time or anything, because Kalinda is a woman on the go!

But in any case, it's a decent amount of time before she strolls on down, passing through the Death Match as sleek and as casual as ever, spotting the blonde before her and taking up a barstool.]

I hope it wasn't too much of a head start.

[YEAH!!!!!!!

Jenny just smiles, motioning toward the half-empty beer bottle in front of her.] You're quick enough.

I'm known for my efficiency.

[She'll motion for the bartender-- what have you-- and motions to what it is that Jenny's having.]

You here every day?

[She waves vaguely, dismissively, in the air.]

More or less. Or one of the other ones.

[To which Kalinda grabs her ice cold beer!]

I like the Lux personally, but here? I like that can fit in without any trouble. Reminds me of when I was young. [Er. Young... er.] I like it.

Oh, really? [She smiles, leaning a bit closer with a mischievous glint in her eyes.] You were a bit of a wild child, then?

To some extent, yes. I'd say I had my fair share of a rebellious streak here and there. Nothing too terrible, admittedly. [And there goes a sip of her beer.]

And now? I'm sure you're very conventional and vanilla.

Not at all.

[Wow, she doesn't even need her loss to admit that!]

Glad to hear it, then.

[A casual sip of beer, after which she coolly regards the bottle.]

We might need to try something stronger if we're to properly release your stress, you know.

Maybe.

[You know what always did the trick?]

Do you like tequila shots?

[She beams, eying Kalinda sidelong.]

We've got a very cordial relationship, me and tequila shots, yes.

It's a tradition where I come from.

[It would have been a lie before, but she supposes that since she and Alicia seemed to partake in it case after case, after promotions and wins, it moved on from a joke to lighten her up to a show of friendship.

Aw.

And so she'll signal for two glasses of her favorite tequila, maybe even some limes to go with it.]

It's led to some less celebratory nights, in any case.

[Jenny's mostly used alcohol to numb the pain of living far too long and seeing far too much. But after awhile, it just became something she did, drinking constantly.

Not in the final year of her life, thought, and with decreasing frequency in the last four. Not when she had actually something to do.

But in this place ...]

And what is it that you celebrate?

A case solved, a promotion gained-- [She'd linger her hand on the glass, looking at Jenny with a sidelong glance.] Though I typically used it as an excuse to get a friend of mine out of her shell and "out there", so to speak. A ploy to lighten up her otherwise all too serious demeanor.

[And she'd lift her shot glass as the second one she's ordered is filled and slid Jenny's way. An eyebrow may quite possibly quirk, wordlessly offering a dual shot.]

Oh, introverted friends. [She rolls her eyes teasingly, smiling.] The true bane of my existence.

[Still smiling, she lifted her own shot in a sort of mini-salute at Kalinda, then knocked it back as she did.]

[She'll lower her glass quickly, licking her lips in one swift motion and exhaling. The lime would meet her lips and she'd allow for a brief suckling at its tart flavor before licking her lips a second time, eyeing Jenny.]

Internalized and afraid to have fun, too. At least the latter half is nothing I have to worry about.

[Jenny winces a little as she sucked the juice from her own lime, then looks back to Kalinda with a smile.]

No? Do you find fun in other ways, then, apart from with your friends?

[She'll smile back.]

Of course. I'm a woman of flexible tastes, after all.

[Oh, she can't help but break into a grin at that, placing her chin in her hand.]

The flexible ones always interest me.

[If only Kalinda were the winking type!]

What can I say? I am rather interesting.
