[Ok, this whole books talking to him thing was really, really weird and he did not like it at all, but he didn't have much of a choice when it came to forms of communication. He had done a bit of exploring, tried to figure out just where he was while looking for Al. Hell, he was looking for anyone familiar. Clearly he was not succesful because the voice coming from the journal is loud and very, very irritated.]

First thing's first. I'm looking for my little brother. His name is Alphonse Elric, goes by Al. He's hard to miss, wears a big suit of armor. If any of you know where I can find him I'd appreciate it.

[He takes a deep breath.]

Yes, I met him...maybe two weeks ago? He's a nice guy. [And since Ed is the big brother, Alan is totally expecting Ed to be just as tall, if not taller.]

I'm not sure where he is now, but you can filter a message to him over the journal - that's what you're looking at now. His room's number 225; there should be a nameplate on it.

This world's...weird, to say the least. Nobody's quite sure how it works, though there've been theories.

Believe me, I'd thought the same thing until I found one of my friends here. According to him, the year was 1989 or so. But I'm from 2010.

You can either write it in, or tell the journal 'filter this message to...' and then whoever you want to see it. Anything from a single name to 'people of good will'.

Yeah, well, I never left Amestris before. I don't know a hell of a lot about the geography of the countries around it.

Amestris is the country I'm from, by the way. Oddly enough, it's on Earth.

It must be a different Earth, then - there are lots of those, apparently. My Earth doesn't have an Amestris. Or alchemy, for that matter.
