[Nora has finally decided to bite the bullet and go out into the snow. She figures it's probably going to be around for at least another month so she might as well do something, right?

Right.

So she's decided to try her hand at snow sculptures. Some might just make snow men. She got a little more creative with the idea. She's set herself up a fair distance away from the strange people under the light, not wanting to be disrespectful of whatever that's supposed to be. Humming softly to herself she puts the finishing touches on a shark heading straight for an unsuspecting snowman.]

((OOC: That's right, kids. Nora's making Calvin and Hobbes snowmen outside. COME JOIN HER! She, uh, may have put firecrackers in a few of them, too. So watch out for exploding snowmen.))

[He takes a minute to finish off his teeny-tiny snowman]

I lived in nothing but for about three years. After a few months doing anything interesting with it is the last thing on your mind.

Oh yeah? Anywhere I might've heard of?

Blue Crow. [He shrugs and brushes snow off his hands] But then again, one end of Callisto is pretty much the same as the other.

[She shrugs, shaking her head.]

I've never heard of it, sorry.

[He smiles thinly] Don't worry about. You're not missing anything.

Where are you from?

[eat_me_beat_me]

I'm from Pleasant Hills, Arizona. [She pauses, remembering the whole different worlds thing] Uh, Earth in 1990.

[both_neither]

God...[He's mentally doing the math already. When did the hyperspace gate go? 21? 22? That gives her maybe 32 years? Assuming it was the same Earth.]

Would it be weird if I asked you what it's like?

[eat_me_beat_me]

[She smiles] Only if you tell me about your home, too.

Arizona's nice. Most of it's a desert, though it's cooler up in the mountains. The country, itself, has a little bit of everything. Some parts are hotter than others, there are swamps and forests and one state is pretty cold all year round.

[she pauses] I feel a little stupid just talking about the weather. What do you want to know about it?

[both_neither]

[He laughs, a little sheepishly] I guess I don't really know. Weather is a good start. It's just...interesting to know that it was normal once. [As opposed to being half desert.]

[eat_me_beat_me]

[She pauses, looking at him]

Once? Why? When are you from?

[both_neither]

[He toes the snow a little]

Figured me out, huh?

The year was 2071 when I left.

2071? Seriously? I can't even imagine what things'll be like that far out...

Different, but in a lot of ways...very much the same.

How's it different? Like... Are there still all the different countries and continents and everything? Or did one country take over like you see in all the movies?

[both_neither]

No. Actually, humanity mostly lives on other planets nowadays. Mars is the dominant colony, but there are others...like Callisto. Not many people still live on Earth.

Other planets? Really? In my time no one's even gone to Mars, let alone moved there.

[both_neither]

Humanity is pretty good at that progress thing, and, well, once they invented the hyperspace gates it got a lot simpler.

Hyperspace gates... Man, things changed a lot since my time...

[both_neither]

Things change but...people are still people.

[eat_me_beat_me]

That's good, at least. What else would you like to know about my time? I don't know a lot but I'm more than happy to share what I do know.

I don't know. It was kind of a silly question.

The music? [She grins] I can tell you about the music, sure. That's how my boyfriend and I met, actually. He does the radio show on Monday nights. He did that back home.

It depends on what kinda music you're into, I guess. There's rock, rap, alternative, classic rock, some've that weird hippie stuff from the 60s is still floating around... every decade had some pretty crazy shit, too. God don't get me started on disco in the 70s. Um... Oh I don't know, there's a lot of stuff out there. What kinda music do you like? I can tell you what we have that's like it.

[he smiles] Jazz, mostly. But I like a lot of things. It's just...well...a lot of stuff got lost after the turn of the century, including music. I mean, people saved a lot of course, but I think a lot of the obscure stuff got forgotten.

[eat_me_beat_me]

Jazz, huh? I don't listen to a lot of jazz, myself, but lemme think.

Oh! I know of one! Castle, uh, a boombox? [A boombox appears next to her in the snow and she thinks for a moment before a cassette appears in her hand. She slips it into the tape deck and hitting play.]

[Gren smirks, wryly]

Kiiiiiinda like that. Mmmm.
