I never know which way to take it anymore. It's only fair for people to be warned about the dangers of this place, but ... maybe I'm just getting really cynical. Most people who pass through here aren't going to ever have to deal with the kind of stuff us older residents have.

Either way, I'm not sure I like this. I don't think all this nice stuff is going to happen without any consequences ... I hate being kept waiting on the edge like this, though.

There haven't been any other people coming through with memories, either. I'm really beginning to think we're going to have to go find them ourselves, as crazy as that sounds.

... Well. Not any more crazy than most of the stuff I hear around here everyday.

[awhile after that private filter ... there is a dressed up blonde ninja wandering from the town over to the duck pond, just taking in all of the decorations while she walks. it's nice, reminds her of home a little :'( but she dictates into the journal finally:]

So those ghost people sitting around in town every day are people of authority in different worlds, huh? I wonder if any of the Hokage will show up. ... Or maybe a different Kage?

Well, it's the best of both of those, too. I mean ... it's not as big as some place like New York or something like that, but there's nowhere like that in my world to begin with.

Well then, I suppose that does put the status of village elder in a better light.

You suppose, huh. [an amused look, before she glances back to the lantern and examines one of the tassels hanging off it with a finger] So, what brings you out today?

Hmm.

[No harm, it seems. He does not know what to make of her, but one thing is for certain, familiarity makes for a distraction]

Interest. This...event, colorful and foolhardy as it is, has proven to be somewhat engaging.

[glances back at him] Engaging how?

While most of this is purely visual fluff, and thus hardly worth acknowledging, I am somewhat interested in these visages. The very ghosts you made mention of.

[ino]

Oh. [a small smile] They are pretty interesting. It doesn't seem like they can talk, though.

[azuredemonic]

Indeed. One could only imagine the stories these figures could share.

[ino]

[an amused sound] I was just thinking the same thing. But it sounds like there are people who know about them, anyways ...

I'm not too surprised. It is only natural when a figure of measured reverence catches one's eye.

Hm. All's the pity I did not encounter one such person.

You think so? Some people probably don't care.

Someone will probably say something over the journal later, anyways. If you'd rather avoid the social interaction. [a bit of an amused face]

Those people are fools of the highest caliber. [Eyes closed, no slack provided there]

That would be best. I'm interested in their tales, not idle commentary about them.

[a little laugh; before she sighs] Yeah, that sounds about right. [for him, anyways. silly antisocial boys!]

[An eyebrow cocked. Did he make a jest? Then he simple shrugs it off without actually shrugging]

Efficiency often is.

[she'll tuck some hair behind her ear, before stuffing her hands in her pockets to keep them warm. it's cold out, okay ;;]

Is it really efficiency, though? As famous as these people are, you can probably find books about them in the library anyways. Wouldn't something along the lines of a personal comment or anecdote be more new and valuable information?

Perhaps. But it also lends to exaggerations and falsehoods.

Everyone's biased, though. Anything you hear about someone, especially someone who's in charge of a big group of people, is probably going to blow up their accomplishments a little bit, if not make things up entirely.

So really, in the end, unless you saw it with your own eyes, it could be a lie. [a pause, before she adds thoughtfully] Actually, even if you did see it with your own eyes it could still be a lie. Illusions and all that.

[azuredemonic]

Hm. Perhaps. [Peers at her] I would not have expected such insight.

Still, even if it is just a story, there are narrators far better than the rest at relating tales of powerful figures.

[ino]

Wouldn't have expected it from me, you mean? [she lifts an eyebrow, looking a little mischievous] Appearances can be deceiving, you know.

That's probably true. There's a reason certain people write for their job and all.

In more ways than you would know. Sometimes what something looks like is exactly what something is. [SNOOTY SNOOTY DOUCHEBAG MAXIMUS HERE]

Any one person can recite to you a legend. It is the people that have chronicled and followed the legend that can truly relate to you it's power.

[THE BIGGEST eyeroll here] That's exactly the kind of attitude that will get you in trouble around here.

I wonder if there's anyone like that around ... ?

[A cocked eyebrow, and then a small smirk] Perhaps. Though I'm sure it'll be no trouble at all.

Hm. One would hope so. It would be a great shame if there was not.

[crosses her arms and lifts an eyebrow right back] Well, I'll be looking forward to the day I get to say "I told you so" when you're laid up in the clinic.

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't. Most of the people who end up here only know how to fight, nothing else.

[Hmph] Then I suggest you get comfy and equip yourself with things to past the time, because that day is going to be a long time coming.

Interesting. This place, so strange a place, prefers to stock itself with capable fighters and beings of combat and war.
