[Just as before, today finds two new figures standing in the courtyard. They are great figures of the past for some residents. Perhaps their stories can be shared?

In the city, people are talking rather excitedly about an event to take place in the evening. They say a great fireworks display is scheduled, and they can't wait to catch a glimpse of it. It's said to be an extraordinary show.

Will you pay patronage to the elders? Will you grab a seat for the show?]

and by some stuff, we mean a shitton of fireworks that he stole last night]

[wooooooah, and when Maya sees someone fiddling with a backpack she stretches out her neck to get a better view.... then she kind of raises herself so she's still kneeling, but now it's more like she's just standing on her knees]

[she scurries over] Geez, where did you get all of these?

Those big bins out front, the other night. I got another backpack full in my room I'm savin' for the summer. ... You're on my floor, still, right?

[optimystic]

I don't know, I got moved down to the sixth floor when everything changed.... Are you there too?

[hard_talker]

No, I'm still in 428, I didn't move at all. [he raises his eyebrows] That'd explain why I wasn't seeing you around.

[optimystic]

Man, I need to pay more attention to this stuff! Sorry about that.

Well even if we're not floor mates, I can still come help you set off random fireworks.

[hard_talker]

S'all good. [he shrugs] I mean, hell, I'm not the most social guy. THink about it - I should've noticed by now, right?

... And I will always, always accept help setting off random fuckin' fireworks.

We both should have! And you're plenty social, you're always talking to people over the radio. That's a kind of social.

[hard_talker]

I guess you're right. I just never really figured it counted. [he chuckles, and starts setting up a line of fireworks]

You ever set these off before?

[optimystic]

Nope! What about you?

Few times, back when I lived in New York... it's not hard, you just gotta get the hell outta Dodge before they go off. That's why I grabbed the ones with fuses.

Dodge? Is that a place?

[hard_talker]

Yeah, actually, but in this case - [he rummages in his pockets for his lighter] - it's a figure of speech. Comes from all the old cowboy Western movies. Dodge was this cowboy town, or something, and whenever the bad guys would show up or shit would start to go down, people'd say "We better get the hell outta Dodge".

[he grins] So saying it now basically means you wanna be out of the way before the fit hits the shan.

... Someone knows more about movies than me? I need to brush up on my Westerns!

Hahah, maybe we should have a marathon. ... Hey, do you know Goku? The kid, I mean? Draws pictures for people in the journal a lot?

[he's almost done setting them all up ... it's two lines, evenly spaced so that they can back up out of the way as they light them]

... Yeah, I think I've talked to him once! He was really cute.

He's my movie buddy - he'd never seen one before, so now we go to the theatre every week and watch something.

[he sets the last few down and wishes up another lighter, handing her a Zippo that says "Parental Advisory" on it]

Here y'go, ready to do this?

I was born ready! [heheheheheh, she fiddles with her lighter, and kind of bounces on the balls of her feet]

Okay, on three ... ready?

One ... [he flicks on his lighter]

Two ... [bends down, gets in position to light the first fuse]

THREE!

[and fsssssss goes the first fuse, and the second it catches he's backing up and moving on to the next, and so on --- they'll get about five rockets (or ten feet) back before the first goes off in a trail of sparks, shooting up into the sky]

[she helps with the lighting, and claps her hands as they rise up. She just watches them... asdgklhadg SO PUMPED]

Wow...!

[once they get to the end of the line, he stuffs the lighter in his pocket and looks up, watching their handiwork. he managed to get a little bit of everything, so the effect is like the finale of a 4th of July show. he hollers over the noise]

I wish I'd thought to set up a sound system first! This'd be BADASS to music!

[haha, as he yells she holds up her hand so he can give her a hi-five :3 THIS IS TOO AWESOME NOT TO DO SOMETHING]

Yeah, but I think it's okay without! We can just imagine music or something.

Oh, yeah, it's definitely still badass! [definitely not leaving you hanging on that five!] Feels good to make some noise, don't it?!
