[Watch out, Danny, but a rather impish-looking Sheena is nearby, quietly uttering the word "Shadow". Soon, a rather ominous-looking figure appears behind the group around the fire, directly in front of Danny.]

[....You know why you shouldn't do that poor innocent ghost-fighting kids who are already a little twitchy? Because they have ghostfighting reflexes. Almost in the same moment he sees it appear he is swiping his hand through the ground and throwing a handful of ectoplasm charged pebbles at it.]

[Which do absolutely nothing to Shadow, who remains quietly where he is at Sheena's request. She had expected a reaction, but not something like that. Which actually tells her that Danny is a fighter.]

That's not going to work. He's a Summon Spirit, not a ghost. [Yes, there's a difference--despite the words.]

[He slowly straightens up.]

Gee, thanks for letting me know.

Well, you really can't have a ghost story without some kind of dark element, can you? [Oh a pun she hadn't meant, but too late now.]

I'm Sheena.

...I'm Danny.

How should I know? This is the first time I've tried telling one.

I see. [She looks up at Shadow, who promptly fades away.]

I thought ghost stories were supposed to scare people, though. Or is it the idea of ghosts that's supposed to scare them?

[No offense, Danny, but, well, she's got a whole bunch of Spirits.]

I told a story. It had ghosts in it. Isn't that the definition of a ghost story?

[He watches with interest as the shadow fade away.]

So... what was that? A bad luck shadow?

Good point. [She still thinks they should be scary, but...there had been only one thing that truly scared Sheena.]

Hmmm? No, but his name is Shadow. He's the Summon Spirit of Darkness. Although, enemies might consider him to be bad luck.

[Danny gives her a confused look.]

Is he a ghost?

[ninjainviolet]

[Shakes her head.]

No, he's a Summon Spirit that represents the element of Darkness on my world. I know that makes him sound like a ghost, but he's not dead. He's actually alive and part of the world.

[schrodingersghost]

Don't think there was anyone like that back home. [Sure, some ghosts had never been alive. But they were all ghosts. All made out of ectoplasm, in some way. Didn't sound like this was quite the same thing.]

[Nope. Not made out of ectoplasm.]

Do you have mana back home? That's what Shadow and the others use. [Yes, there's more than one.]

Never heard of it before.

[ninjainviolet]

Oh. On my world, it's the source of all life on the planet. Do you have something like that on yours?

[schrodingersghost]

Don't think so. We have ectoplasm, but that's definitely not a source of life.

[ninjainviolet]

Ectoplasm? [She shakes her head.] I've never heard of it before. [That doesn't mean it may not exist; she's just not too science-minded.]

[TOPIC CHANGE...]

So, you're a fighter, huh?

[schrodingersghost]

[And once again Danny had reason to resent losing his ability to lie. He couldn't deny that. All he had was misdirection. Too bad he sucked at it.]

What? Where did you get that idea?

[ninjainviolet]

The way you reacted when you saw Shadow. You didn't run; you threw something at him instead.

[Sheena's just a horrible liar, and usually misdirection works on her (sad for a ninja), but she had seen it with her own eyes.]

What's weird about that?

[ninjainviolet]

I never said it was weird. The fact you stayed in place tells me you were ready to fight him, that's all.

I do the same thing.

Maybe it was a distraction?

I have no doubt that's what it was. But, you still didn't run away.

[Crosses her arms.]

Distraction is a classic ninja technique. [Hell, it's classic for any fighting.]

...I'm going to fail this, aren't I?

[Nods.]

Yeah, you are. But it's okay. You're surrounded by fighters, so I'm probably not the only one who noticed.
