Distractions Are Needed [action + dictated ]
[Ashura is out in town today, dressed in the bright green and white offered to him by the festival, his hair done up in a swirl of black and gold. He has a small cloth sack with him, emblazoned with his familial symbol, avoiding looking at the elders - not because he has no respect for them, but because.. he does not like looking at the dead. He spent to many years looking at the dead, and some dreaming of them. Felix kept the more prominent of them at bay, but sometimes... seeing things that amounted to ghosts made it hard. He needed a distraction. He needed to go in and examine things and taste them - hence his visit to the sweet shops (all of them), to the flower shops to see if any blooms might be in for the winter season, and admire the decorations (they, at least, did not make him think of the dead in his life).
He pauses at a small shop to drink hot chocolate, savoring the sweetness and the warmth in his hands, licking a bit of the cream from his lips as he gazed out, looking at the journal open beside him as he enjoyed his drink.]
I do not like ghosts. Or shades. Or shadows. Whatever you want to call them. Ghosts are memories made real, but they should stay in your mind, not out where everyone can see.
[His piece said he continued on with his drink, needing the warmth.]
[Felix]
[Ashura returned from town, setting his things aside, except for one box wrapped with a ribbon.]
Felix? Are you here or are you out?
[ooc: Poke Ashura around town or respond via the journal~ everybody welcome :D ]

[He stroked his hair before popping the cork on the bottle, the scent of lavender and jasmine filling the air.]
Take off your shirt.

Very well...
[It was a simple matter to undo his waistcoat and then slip the loose white shirt over his head, neatly folding the clothes in his lap. It was surprising how easy that was, sometimes, letting Ashura - even as a lover - get a good look at his scars in bright light. But for once that was once of the few things he didn't have to hide]

He his hands slick with the liquid and warming his fingers slightly, he came behind Felix and slowly set his hands on his shoulders, not wanting to alarm him, and then gently began to caress his neck and shoulders, kneading softly now and then.]

[He sighed a bit, letting his head fall forward as Ashura's hands moved, the pleasant smell filling the warm air around him]

[He enjoyed any excuse to touch Felix this way. Usually it was due to sex, but... this was nice to. He enjoyed sliding his fingers over skin, feeling tight muscles un-knot and loosen. He liked knowing he could relax Felix, give him pleasure in another way. That he got to touch him like this was a bonus.]

[On him and only him, but still. He bent his head, kissing the red hair, enjoying the sweet smell of it as his fingers continued their work.]
You need to take more breaks from those books, love.

[He made a pleased humming sound, relaxing into the touch, rolling his shoulders a bit as he felt the ache in them ease a bit]

I would say we should go camping, get out for a bit, but we both hate the cold and you hate the outdoors.
[He chuckled, rubbing his shoulders.]
We should do something like that though. I've read about it in some of the novels I read. Couples just... go away for a bit, to a quiet place or a favorite place. I think it would be nice for us both. Certainly keep you from neck cramps for a few days I think.
[What would his life have been like if he could have just 'gone away' from being king?]

[He leaned forward slightly to give Ashura more access, chuckling softly]
Well, I'm not sure where we could go, given the weather. Mineas Well? Do the seasons even affect the Dead Zone? And we'd have to ask Flora for permission to stay, assuredly.
There's supposed to be the remains of a tower in the outer lands somewhere. It would be fairly isolated, but we would have to wait until spring for that...
[Plus, he'd be curious to see if it might contain some clues about the castle]

[He grinned, running his fingers against his neck, going down to the base and swirling his thumb in the last, tiny hairs.]

Mmmm...it's a start.

[He rubbed his thumb hard into the back of his neck, easing the knot.]

Actually I got a little sidetracked by this odd little festival the castle is holding. It's the first time I've actually seen ghosts that look like actual people.

What did ghosts look like in your world?
no subject
Like themselves, but transparent. Most people can't see them at all but, well, I remember I saw a lot of them when I...wasn't myself. A...friend of mine could see them as well, and through him I devised a way to see them myself, if I wished.

[He took Felix's hand, slowly kneading the palm, wrist, and fingers, leaning more against him and resting his head in the crook of his neck.]

Curiosity, mostly. He was annemer and I wanted to know how it worked. Cabalines don't even believe in ghosts, but our magic is more connected with the spirit world than anything else, I think.
But also, well...there was a particular ghost...

[He looked up at him as he continued to work his hand.]

A boy. A former Cordelian prince who'd been raised by some fool wizards about a hundred years before I came along. I encountered him in my madness, in the crypts beneath the Mirador. At the time I couldn't help him...my magic was gone, among other things...but I promised him that I would if I ever could.

[He kisses his cheek, shifting to work on his other hand now.]

[He kisses his lips this time.]

I didn't exactly choose to see ghosts the first time. But I found it hard to ignore it after the fact.
