Day Four: Campfire

[there is something different about this campfire. You hear howling off in the woods. Maybe it's just that giant dog, but it's still a little creepy. The perfect atmosphere for scary stories! Right?

Or maybe a cue to start taking those prophecies seriously. Discuss it around the campfire!]

[campfire is early tonight to make up for being late yesterday :D As usual, make your own sections]

[And she's here, showing support. Even if she's not quite sure how this would work.]

Doth this method of persuasion truly convince others to understand our point of view?
learns: Clutching a book and smiling slightly (This is the book I was looking for)

W-Well, my studies say that it should.

I will admit that propaganda is a powerful tool.

[even if this sort of rabblerousing is typically directed towards the government.

Hm.]
Hast thou had any success in convincing others?
learns: (I love books okay)

1/3

Oh, yes! Well, some people in my cabin.
learns: (Jiiiiii)

Some of the others didn't take it so well, though.

[aw, Twi.]

They merely see it as normal, I would assume. Did they feed thee the line regarding how 'tis merely an exchange of food and shelter in return for a little work?
learns: (Oy vey)

Yes! Almost those exact words!

[personal profile] ensemble_dark_horse 2012-06-24 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Ponies - and humans - are quick to defend their way of life if they perceive they are being attacked - often without considering how they would react if the horseshoe is on the other hoof.

Would they be so quick to dismiss our concerns, I wonder, if we visited a place where simple-minded humans are traded and kept as pets and laborers?
learns: Looking unsure (Dr. who?)

[personal profile] learns 2012-06-24 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
That would be horrible, too...

[personal profile] ensemble_dark_horse 2012-06-24 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
My point exactly.

Twilight Sparkle, I believe a campaign such as this would require more time than we have afore the chariot races begin. Perhaps a more reasonable short-term goal would be to simply prevent any forced participation in the races on behalf of any reluctant ponies.

And if they were to wish to race... [she shrugs] Unfortunately, advocating freedom means that we should listen to them - no matter how simple-minded we may think they are.
learns: Looking unsure and worried (I don't think so)

[personal profile] learns 2012-06-24 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
But Luna... it's so dangerous. Why is something so dangerous even allowed? [ You wouldn't let this take place in Equestria, rite? ]

[personal profile] ensemble_dark_horse 2012-06-24 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
The usual reasons, I would assume. Glory, status, the thrill of surviving a dangerous situation.

'Tis very much like thy friend Rainbow Dash or the Wonderbolts. The difference is that we do not force them to perform such dangerous tricks or to race - they only do so because they wish to. As for the danger, we limit it by having rules and many referees on hoof.

[she still doesn't know very much about the chariot race though]
learns: Applejack laughing, Twilight embarassed (It's Starswirl the bearded...)

[personal profile] learns 2012-06-24 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well.... I can't deny that some of Rainbow Dash's stunts are dangerous.

[ But what happens when they find out that they use weapons during the race? THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT YET... ]
