[Thanks to the castle's meddling, Kat's official first day back had been spent relaxing, and while it had been a little frustrating to not be able to jump right into things the way she would have liked, it did give her a chance to reflect on the memories she was still receiving and digging up.]

[But, now she was back on her terms, and that meant getting down to business.]

Filtered to Friends and Allies, both new and old

Status report. Now. I've got a lot of catching up to do.

[A faint pause after that filter. She'd had certain memories, recollections of past conversations, she knew what would have happened if she had really been sent home, and just Jorge's and Six's presence here reinforces what she had at one time thought was a complete and utter lie.]

[There's a small hint of amusement amid the determination in her voice.] I guess it is true. Spartans never die.

[She'll be reacquainting herself with the castle and surrounding grounds today, patrolling in full armor. Feel free to run into her anywhere!]

Never a dull moment, apparently. Carolina gave me a brief rundown. [But York you are ever so much more useful.] If you need anything, you let me know.

[She may still be trying to remember everything, but their importance to her is one of the first things that came back. Not that she entirely knew what to do about everyone yet.] I've taken my things out to the hangar again, but with this new information I might move back into the castle to keep an eye on things.

[Unspoken is that her room is right next door to Washington's and she can better protect him that way, even if they're avoiding each other out of awkwardness right now.]

[Wow, Kat and Wash were being awkward around each other? Stop the fucking presses.]

Course I will. Oh! And I bet you saw them already, but Noble Six and Four--Jorge--they're both here, too.

Carolina's trying to work out some kind of deal with Wyoming, and with you guys around I can probably keep enough of an eye on him and South that it won't be an issue. I want to stay out here for the time being, though. At least till we have an idea what to expect.

Yes, I got a chance to see Noble Five yesterday. [So many memories and hello guilt.]

That sounds like the best course of action for now. You need me to visit? Wouldn't hurt to get out and get used to stuff again. [See how rusty her hacking skills are]

[She chuckles.] That, I believe. And your nose.

Oh please. I could hack my way into ONI, you think I can't cover my tracks?

[And then a pause.] What's 'ONI' stand for?

Office of Naval Intelligence, and I'm hoping that just means your memories are still returning. [Cause that would be a hell of a loss.] Come on, I'll give you the full version once you get here. I know you're good enough.

No, it's familiar. My project, it was under control of ONI, wasn't it? Well, you'll tell me when I get there. Tell me where I do my hacking and I'll be on my way.

Yeah, more or less. All the Black Ops were to some degree.

Just head up to my room. 2110, and it's the first teleporter on the right. Where'd you get placed this time?

[A small pause.] 320. [Odd on two cases, matching her call-sign and putting her directly next door to Washington but she's not going into it now.]

On my way. [And, yes, it is going to take her a bit longer, but she's persistant and the longer it takes the more determined she gets, and by the time she arrives she's got a considerable amount of memories from home.]

...Castle really does like jerking us around, doesn't it?

[York, for his part, has organized the holographic displays of the Danger Room into a decent vacation spot - it's a nice beach area, complete with a modern-style beach home. He's currently sunbathing in his armor on a chair. Don't ask how that works.]

[The soft shuffle of boots in sand as she finally makes her way in.] Set up a rolling encryption if you haven't already. I'll practice again tomorrow. [She only just found out she was an excellent hacker and she's already irked that it took her as long as she did.]

I don't mind it so much, it's just odd. [Meaning the room number. She looked around the beach and gave a soft chuckle.] I don't know if I'm ready for this, I just spent a day in the hot springs yesterday against my will.

I have. Turned it back on as soon as you made it through. Still rather not have you crack the real one where Gamma could see it, though. [Nothing against Kat - quite the opposite. If she can crack it, he can pick up on it without having to do any of the hard work.]

Well, I can turn it off if you want. But if I'm going to be away from the castle against my will, it's at least going to be enjoyable.

--Also, if you still have a bathing suit, you can totally go swimming here too.

No, you're right, we've got to keep it safe. Anyway you can set up a remote lock on my door from here? I'll practice in my own space?

-- I do, and it's already gotten use. It's back at my room though, and I've had enough swimming for a while. [You missed it, York, Spartan in a hot spring.]

I can build one for you and you can take it back, sure. Would give me something to do out here, anyway.

[Damn. Seriously, damn.]

Well, I'll probably be here for a while, so. Any time you need some sun and water, I got it.

I'm ... managing. I'm starting to remember a lot more but none of it is chronological. Six has relinquished control of the hangar back to me, but there's not much for me to do since Carolina has been to precise with the upkeep.

No problem. Hell, I'll be glad to.

[He nods.]

We've been lucky to have her. [He blinks, because oh yeah, he should probably mention that--] Uh, she and I started dating back at Christmas, by the way.

She's very protective of you. Of .. all of you. [She's a little conflicted by it. Not out of any jealousy, but the memories she'd been getting back had her feeling about York as much as she did about Nobles Five and Six. Coming back like this, trying to make sense of the memories, put her at a distinct disadvantage with Carolina that she didn't like.]

[Not that she'd say anything. They were allies but they were, and would always be, Carolina's team and not Kat's, and this new development just seemed to hone that fact in a little clearer.]

She was our team leader back in training, which is where she's from in time. By the end we were all as willing to shoot each other in the back as Wyoming did to me and South did to Wash, but back then--we were a team. Or trying to be.

[He scratches the back of his neck, as he does when he's uncomfortable.]

Just hope it doesn't bite her in the ass.

[Kat raises her brows.]

Do you think it might?

[Kat didn't know just how dangerous the newcomers might be,even if she was already predisposed to hate them on principal. In addition to that, she wasn't used to thinking of team-members as being possible hostiles, even with her year of previous memories and six months of fake ones.]

With our luck? Yeah.

Yeah, it might.

[Kat snorts, taking off her helmet to scratch at her head.] Not if I have anything to say about it. [Not mentioning, of course, the odd castle interference that kept her from attacking the Meta when he was around.]

[He smiles a little, though it's not without bitterness. It was luck as much as anything that had let him stay alive as long as he had against the Meta.]

Hey, one thing I remember with clarity is that you and Washington pulled me through a lot of hard times. Whether you like it or not you're stuck with me. [She gives him an appropriately Spartnan-affectionate nudge on the shoulder.]
