[good evening, Paradisa. not to interrupt, but...]
Hey, uh... Anyone have experience with handling unstable isotopes?
I've got... kind of a problem.
[kind of a potentially radioactive problem.]

[But he'll of course at least attempt to place the cubes into the machine, barring any castle interference, and he works with a calm precision. It's clear he's handled dangerous materials before.]

[but hey, when York goes to put the cubes back... they... go in without a problem! fancy that.]
...Huh.

You know, I have to ask, have you figured out your loss yet? Cause I'm thinking that might be it.

[he sighs and runs a hand through his hair. trying to decide if it's specific to this scenario, or something broader. he'll have to test, now.]
But... thank you. Can you set it to twenty-four RPS?
no subject
[It only takes him a moment to read the controls and set them as requested.]
Can I ask why you'd need this stuff, anyway?
no subject
Yeah. I promise I'm not just messing around with dangerous particles for fun.
I'm, uh... [he fidgets with his hands a little.] I'm a nuclear physicist, I specialize in gamma radiation. I'm also trying to help figure out how this dimension, or... even just this castle works. Since there's a whole lot of questions and not many solid places to start, the idea was... start with what I know.
[he'll shrug and lean back against the table, then.] Figured I might be able to analyze something from the castle, maybe see if there were any patterns or unusual behaviors in atomic decay that I could use to piece something together. But then, well... you know how well that's worked out.

[He sounds impressed - sure, York has to deal with this kind of thing as part of his job, but that doesn't mean he's anywhere near able to theorize about it.]
It's a good idea. But if handling them is part of your loss, maybe you could get other people to run the experiments and then you could just work with the data? I know my friend Kat at the very least would like to see some scientific results instead of just magical bullshit all the time.

As much as I hate to admit it... that's probably for the best. Better to work together than risk blowing something up. [kind of an awkward laugh.] I'll do some tests and see how far the, uh, loss goes. But I'll try and find something less dangerous next time.

Just let me know if you need anything. There are a good half-dozen of us who are trained to deal with dangerous materials from my world alone.

[he pauses, back to awkward, and sort of gesturpoints to... just... York in general.]
So, I gotta ask, is that all... military? You said you're a freelancer, right?

[must be from a different dimension or... timeline. or something. :/]
no subject
[Yep, different timeline.]

[a guy from the future, huh? well, there we go.]
And here, do you guys just... help out people who've got radioactive time-bombs hanging around?

no subject
Well, that sounds... good, at least. Thanks for taking the time.

Least I can do. Karma can be a real harsh mistress in this place, if you know what I mean. So I like to help when I can.

Just drop me a line if anything else comes up. I know not everyone here is trained to deal with radioactivity.
[And he'll wave on his way out.]
