[The hand that appears in the journals is neat, elegant, and a touch old-fashioned]
I must say, if this is the afterlife, it's rather disappointing. Mother certainly wouldn't approve, although as I can't sense her presence, her personal beliefs about reincarnation - which for once I am inclined to share - were correct, or if this is something else entirely. I'm more inclined to believe the latter - it certainly lacks the vividness of a construct of my own mind. Which I suppose presents it's own little puzzle, as I should, by all rights, be dead. There does seem to be the signature of other magics about, too - unfamiliar forms, as well. Even more interesting.

And to whomever has my cards - I wish you the best of luck in dealing with them.
