I must say, if this is the afterlife, it's rather disappointing. Mother certainly wouldn't approve, although as I can't sense her presence, her personal beliefs about reincarnation - which for once I am inclined to share - were correct, or if this is something else entirely. I'm more inclined to believe the latter - it certainly lacks the vividness of a construct of my own mind. Which I suppose presents it's own little puzzle, as I should, by all rights, be dead. There does seem to be the signature of other magics about, too - unfamiliar forms, as well. Even more interesting.

[A small pause, and then-]
And to whomever has my cards - I wish you the best of luck in dealing with them.

Some people are actually dead back home, but got brought back to life when they got here.

I suspect that would be the case for me as well. Though there are more forms of 'life' than most people think.

This is not the afterlife. Rather, it is a strange castle filled with magical abilities. I, myself, was skeptical at first... but I have seen it do strange things, including turning myself into a statue and dragging everyone to camp.

If you should be dead, you are not. As for if and when you return to your world, I cannot say.

I was falling down an elevator shaft when I appeared here. I've no idea what I'll do if and when I return, to be honest... so I suppose trying to enjoy my time here is all I can do.

I think that's being a little pedantic about it. All the stuff you could enjoy while you were alive you can still do here, unless that's your loss. So maybe it doesn't matter much which you are.

I apolopgize - pedantry is one of my myriad flaws. The matter does not actually bother me much, though it's interesting to consider.

Oh, almost certainly being dead. Or I was. The current moment is somewhat more debatable.

And it is rather easy to be calm when you chose it.
