[ Everyone but Wheatley ; dictated ]
I was wondering if anyone would guide me through the process of making tea.
If it makes any difference, black or green tea especially.
[ Wheatley ]
[ A few hours later, GLaDOS would be making said tea. The room was already ready; although she hadn't really changed it from its cold and clinical feel, it was something that they were both used to, anyway. Aperture. There was a small table set up, though, with two chairs and little tea saucers and plates, and a little radio in the middle that was playing classical music.
GLaDOS herself would be dressed primarily in blue, in a nice button-down fitting blouse with sleeves that reached her elbows and a knee-length black pencil skirt. Of course, she was wearing some nice shoes to match, no heels of course (even if she did think about them, she likely would have trouble walking in them). She didn't want to wish up the tea already made, instead opting to keep herself busy before the moron got there.
She was a little apprehensive, really. This set-up was ridiculous. She knew she was going to these lengths because he had been so considerate over the past week, where she had only been as nice as she could be, but still. Being kind didn't really come naturally after so many years of being a homicidal AI. It was a foreign concept, even if the friendship itself made her inexplicably happy. If only the tiny bit of data (well, self, now that she was human) that was Caroline could explain these dumb things. Instead of just making her feel them.
She let out a small, nervous sigh before writing in the filter and speaking. Hopefully, he had his journal on him. ]
Come up to my room as soon as you're free.
[ Now, to play the waiting game. She took the two tea cups that she had wished for (with blue designs on them, naturally) and finished the job, hoping he would come soon. Otherwise, the tea would get cold. ]

Action: prepare for phone related html fails.
"Be right there, love."
[He had no idea what was going on. They hadn't spoken for the entire day. Wheatley had figured that GLaDOS wanted to call the truce early and be left alone. He was relieved when he heard her. Slinking away from his desk... he threw on a white collared shirt under an orange sweatervest with his grey pants. Nothing too extravagant, but he figured she'd like the orange.
When he got to her room... he paused... stood there a moment and assessed just how different it'd be the day after. He almost didn't want to see her... and yet, a part of him wanted to really see her. It was at that moment, he finally knocked, unsure what to expect.]
Action: I AM READY ;;
Hopefully.
She would take a little breath before walking to the door and opening it, making sure it was him on the other side. before opening it wider and making space for him to walk in. ] ... Come in.
[ She's clearly a bit anxious, from the way she keeps fiddling with her sleeves to the way she even looks. Maybe this was a bad idea. It was the last day. Of course it was a bad idea.
In any case. ] I'm going to get the tea. It should be done.
[ She was pretty sure it had steeped for about two minutes. ]
<3
"D-did you say tea? What kind?...b-by any chance?"
no subject
I believe it's specifically "ceylon" ... but it's black. [ And she pulls awkwardly on her sleeve before going to get the tea, soon returning with two tea cups. and heading to the table. ]
... You did like black tea, right? [ That had come out before she could stop it. ]
no subject
"L-like? I love it! He... heyyy...wait a minute...
...
you remembered, didn't you?"
[Bawwww! Look at that smile!]
no subject
I'm glad I remembered it right, at least. The human memory never ceases to amaze. [ she says sarcastically, but truly, she's glad she could give him a pleasant surprise like he had kept doing for her the entire week. ] I just hope it's good. I made it myself.
[ With a little bit of guidance, but she did technically make it herself. ]

[He laughs nervously and loosens his collar. He is eying that drink. Smiling slightly, he... (if not reluctantly) picks up the cup, and looks at it.]
"I... uh, didn't know you knew how to make tea..."
[He is worried... Though he isn't making it too obvious.]
8'|
I had some help over the journal about someone who seemed pretty well-versed in making tea, if that helps any. [ What if it wasn't good? Suddenly, she's a little worried. So she picks up her own cup, sipping it veeery carefully.
It was the first time she tasted tea, so she wasn't sure what to expect. It was pretty strong...! ]
Is it supposed to have sugar in it? [ She likes sweet things okay. ]
no subject
[He leaned a little forward and picked up the tea. He smells it. God he loves the smell of tea. His eyes flicker back to look at her.]
"Some more than others... some more than others, definitely."
[And at that moment, he brings it to his lips, taking a sip. of it. His eyes widen slightly. Very slight. She'd have to be staring directly at him to notice the difference.]
no subject
Is it okay? [ Please be good, please be good, please be good... She's definitely going to get some sugar after he tells her. ]
no subject
[He gives GLaDOS this long neutral stare, before he cracks a grin]
"Haha! I'm only fooling with you love... it's... well, it's really good! Better than the black tea I've tasted here..."
[And then he steals a glance at the little radio.]
"I... I don't know what to say... y-you really don't forget anything, do you?"
[He holds his hand out to her... what is he doing?]
no subject
You didn't have to do that. [ It wasn't a dangerous huffy, more like a relieved huffy. But still, she was glad he liked everything. That was what counted. For their last day of friendship.
When he held out his hand, she hesitated before realizing.
Did he want to dance?
Well, she might as well humor him. Besides, the last time they danced, Wheatley had danced her away from a nightmare, in the literal sense. So she put her teacup down and put her hand in his. ]
You really do like dancing, don't you.
no subject
[He suddenly stood. Pulling her gently out of her seat.]
"I'd call it calming. Good for you. Not you specifically... but, I guess anyone who'd want to dance. Which would be you at the moment."
[He'd slowly back into a clearer spot, pulling her gently along.]
"Wh-what about you?"
no subject
It was calming. The one time that I danced before this.
no subject
"Really now? Ooh! Can I-can I ask who it was you danced with?"
[/facepalm.]
no subject
It was you. I never danced before that dream. If you think about it, this is the first time I've ever really danced in real life. [ After the spin, she moved her free hand up to his shoulder. ]
no subject
[He wrapped his arm around her waist.]
"Really? Wow. Well, I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. My first time too. Both of ours. Pretty nice n' all... one of the uh... oh the benefits of having friends. I suppose that's gotta be it. Loads of things to do together... new things. Things you've never done before."
[And then that strange crack in his voice at his last line. He wondered how many hours it was before they weren't friends anymore. A glance at the clock. 11 hours. 11. He wondered how quickly those hours would go by.]
no subject
She was still trying to rationalize this in her mind. It didn't make sense. Why was the thought of killing him not the first thing that came to mind anymore? There was definitely something about this. Something human.
Yet she couldn't 'delete' it. She couldn't just erase her memory; she was human now. So when something caused malfunction, discord, it couldn't simply be removed. Forgotten. ]
... I'll admit that this week will probably be the best one I spend here. [ She already felt melancholic about this.
Really, being human changed everything. Nothing was programmed into her. He was probably the same way. Well, even if he was still a moron. ] But we can't stay like this forever. Not with what's happened before.
[ Although, strangely, even if she was saying that, she still wanted to extend their time together like this. Even if it was dumb. And human. ]
no subject
"Nope. In fact! We weren't supposed to even do this if you think about it. Looking back. Never would've thought this would happen. I imagined a few alternatives but this wasn't even on the list. It was backed up in some... list train in Peru or something. Being sorted by unpaid child laborers."
[Um what. Don't loose the point. He's just trying to say that he wasn't expecting to spend time with you ok.
He moved slowly, along with the music. Thinking. He had to push himself to kill her, but yet... it wasn't visualizing in his mind. It was as if he was trapped in the moment! A good moment too. He heard the slight hint of melancholy in her voice and pulled away slightly, crouching so he was at the same eye level.]
"But... don't look so sad love! What do we have? More than 10 hours. Not a whole ton of time if you ask me. Stay here in the moment with me, will you?"
no subject
When he crouched to meet her eyes and asked that... she tried to smile. They still had a little bit of time left, and as much as she wanted to spend it happily, it was hard to channel said happiness.
But she would try. ]
I'll do my best. [ Why is she so negative? She's only thinking about later. She's completely losing the point of inviting him over in the first place.
Not the best idea, she realized. ] You're right. We should just be enjoying the time we have left.
no subject
He had stopped dancing for that moment where he had crouched down to her level. He'd stand back up to his full height.]
"Last time I checked, you never had to do your best love. Constantly testing people mundanely. Didn't even break a sweat... hypothetically. As much as I wanted to be the one in charge. Running things. Being the big guy in charge... the real fun n' all... they made you do it."
[He's quick to add...]
"I did a good job when I was though!"
[His tone is softer again. He places his chin at the top of her head as he continues to dance with her.]
"But... you were built... good. Great! You were built great. Great and non-trying"
[He's trying to cheer her up ok this means nothing and even if you use this against him after the end of the truce he will not acknowledge it as happening.]
no subject
GLaDOS makes a little pleasant hum, enjoying the praise. Even if it'll mean nothing in... that time longer than 10 hours, it still makes her feel better. It was a much easier topic to broach than the whole friendship thing.
After all, she was the best at maintaining Aperture.
She follows his dancing lead when they start again, enjoying the proximity. ]
You don't have to try and flatter me like that. Even if I am the rightful owner of Aperture. [ Is that a bit of her trademark confidence sneaking in there? Regardless, it worked. More or less. ]
So, how did you know you liked dancing so much if you only danced with me in a dream?
no subject
"Ahhh.... I uh... you know, danced by myself a few times."
[NO SHAME. None. There is no shame whatsoever.]
"But it's great! You're practically expressing yourself without saying anything! Couldn't do that as a core. Couldn't... couldn't EXPRESS myself or anything. It'd just look like I... was... having a terrible terrible malfunction."
