Entrée de Journal Soixante-Sept: Pheasant and Cheese and Onion Crisps

I’m glad that’s over, at least the ghosts are human shaped now and I can get out of this damned room. I even made a pheasant and crisp sandwich to celebrate.

[Chuckles softly]

Oh Ashura, can we try out this new sword you gave me or will it become blunt?

So long as you keep it in good working order, it hardly matters how you do it to me - though I think you do need a lesson in proper sword care between sharpening.

Do not leave blood on it, regularly polishing it to avoid rusting, how to inspect it for other types of damage.

[His crystal blade needed none of these things, had he had it, but he had learned to use a regular blade for that one.]

It depends on how often you use it.

Probably. Do not put to many charms Draco. The point is to work with the sword, not enchant it to do all the work for you.

You learn the feel of it. The weight of it. You might not think so, but the more you handle the weapon, the more you come to understand it - yes, even through cleaning.

You do, but the sword, if you plan to be good, needs to be a part of you, not just a tool.

Yes, exactly. You should not have to think about the weight, about how you hold it, about what angle you have it at. It must come naturally and quickly if you plan to survive a sword fight.
