I have some news that's ridiculously unimportant in the big scheme of Paradisa Announcements, but it's been enough years that I think I can be happy to say that I got a promotion!

I won't bore anyone with the details of why [ because they involve a death that happened awhile back and that's just a debbie downer ] but I've been acting as temporary assistant-manager at the restaurant for awhile now, and they were supposed to find a replacement. But the acting manager admitted to not wanting to be in that position, since they had originally just been assisting.

So I'm now officially the manager of Il Cappricio. ...Like I said, it's not a big deal, but I'm celebrating anyway. If anyone wants to come by the restaurant tonight, drinks are on me. I'll be here late finishing up the paperwork, anyway.

[He narrows his eyes, peering around her to watch her try to shove something aside without catching his attention. Hmm. He'll wait until she's distracted and then look for himself.]

Iced tea. [Pause.] Please.

[ Oh, manners! She's delighted, her smile more genuine again as she pulls out the pitcher to fill a glass for him. ]

You got it. So how was your morning?

[He frowns.]

Boring.

[He and Dick still aren't talking too much, and all...]

I get the feeling that's the story of your life right now, huh?

[ Ever since the Batfam cracked down, that is. ]

Sometimes. [He pauses.] No, most of the time. Hush screwed everything up, and it wasn't even good to begin with. Not that it's ever good.

[He leans against the counter.]

[ And for the billionth time, she has to resist the urge to hug the life out of him at the reminder. The iced tea's handed over to him. ]

Not exactly bored. But I wouldn't say anything exciting has actually happened to me.

Are your activities still being restricted, or is Dick...um, letting you do what you will? [ 'Avoiding the matter' she wants to say. ]

Dick's mad at what I did, so... [shrug]

But what is he doing about it?

[ Or is he just avoidin? Lana bites her tongue and perches on a stool. ]

I mean... Have you two had the chance to talk?

No. I let Stephanie handle it.

[He sits, too.]

We're just patrolling in the mean time.

[ This is a disgusting mess, and every time she gets updated it just upsets her even more. How is this getting worse? How is nobody else noticing?! ]

What about Kate? Where is she in all of this now?

I haven't spoken to Kate since she locked me up.

[ She can't hold it back, she's literally facepalming right now. ]

[He just watches her.]

How far from "normal" is that?

Damian, there is nothing--nothing about any of this at all that even remotely resembles normalcy.

This was a very delicate situation for...all of you. But the difference between you and them is that they are the adults. You should...be able to confide in somebody.

It would be better if you could talk to Dick or Stephanie more about it, but I want you to know you can also talk to me about what happened. About anything, really.

I know that, but I don't want to confide anything. I just want to be happy, and I want everyone to forget that Hush was even here, and I want adults to stop ruining my life.

[ Well, it's obvious that nobody's going to forget, and that things aren't just going to blow over. Lana doesn't want to patronize him, but she doesn't want to remind him of what he probably already knows. ]

Well, let's do something that makes you happy. What haven't you been able to do in awhile that you really want to?

[He gives her a suspicious look. What does she expect to do to make him happy?]

There's no crime here to fight.

[ If only ice cream and hugs could do it. ]

We really need to find you some hobbies.

That's a good question... I don't suppose you like riding horses?

[heirdom]

[He's not about to admit that really big animals make him a little nervous, so he just shrugs.]

I don't do it very often... they're okay, I guess.

I used to compete. Is there anything like that you might be interested in? A sport, maybe?

[heirdom]

I never had time for sports, so I didn't learn to play them.

And you don't watch any on TV? What about while you were at that high school? You didn't see any extra-curricular activities you were interested in?

[heirdom]

[Shrugs. Truth be told, he has no idea how to "play", and he'd probably just stand there if he tried. He doesn't even play football at those Thanksgiving dinners in Paradisa: he just hangs out on the sidelines.]

Not really. I just watch, and only when there's nothing else to do.
