I have some news that's ridiculously unimportant in the big scheme of Paradisa Announcements, but it's been enough years that I think I can be happy to say that I got a promotion!

I won't bore anyone with the details of why [ because they involve a death that happened awhile back and that's just a debbie downer ] but I've been acting as temporary assistant-manager at the restaurant for awhile now, and they were supposed to find a replacement. But the acting manager admitted to not wanting to be in that position, since they had originally just been assisting.

So I'm now officially the manager of Il Cappricio. ...Like I said, it's not a big deal, but I'm celebrating anyway. If anyone wants to come by the restaurant tonight, drinks are on me. I'll be here late finishing up the paperwork, anyway.

What kind of stuff?

It's Italian food, but...some items you can tell are influenced by other cuisines. Probably from castle residents being here over the years.

I should've guessed. I'll have to bring a friend to check it out, she'd probably get a kick out of it.

We seem to be getting a lot of Italians lately. Maybe Ezio would like the place, too.

That or complain. He judged me for going for dried pasta, like it was some sin. You're right, though. We've gotten at least three from Italy in the last two months. Weird coincidence.

Really? He seemed to enjoy the food I made without any complaints. Maybe he's pickier about Italian food.

In that case he'd probably hate the restaurant. I can't personally vouch for how authentic it is.

Well he seemed pretty eager to try new foods.

It's fun to meet people from the past. Somehow I think I prefer it over meeting someone from the future.

It is fun. It also makes me wish I paid more attention in history class.

Well it helps to take advantage of the library and brush up while you're here. Documentaries also help because then you can eat chips instead of turn pages.

True, true. But it's sort of fun trading information. I tell them about refrigerators, they show me how dresses go on. It's all good.

...That's true. I always learn something.

At least Paradisa has a few redeemable aspects.

Ha, no worries there. Valentine's is Stephanie Day. I have a date with a hot bath and fancy things to put in the water.

Most of the "modern" Italian restaurants I saw in Paris used ingredients I have never heard of in my life.

Well this one isn't actually that modern, except for maybe the kitchen. There are several of what I think are traditional dishes, just some other different ones.

I can always have them make you a specific dish at your request, too.

There's nothing wrong with an Italian restaurant working more on its roots. Especially when those aren't anywhere in this world.

Ah, but from my view, there is no Italy –– it is a region, not a country. Roots go many places. Venetian cooking is not the same as Florentine cooking, or the cuisine found to the south.
