It is slower than mine, as well, but it is full of things I have never seen, so I have been kept very busy. What year are you from?

I was taken from August 14th, 2552. I was in orbit of the UNSC Planet Reach.

[There's a pause] Then I woke up here.

I imagine we are like the old world Romans or Greeks to you.

Probably. I haven't paid much attention to history.

[It wasn't necessary.]

Is it not taught, in your time?

It wasn't necessary for me to learn that stuff.

[He knew about historical battles, sure. Because when you train your child supersoldiers you want them to learn from the past, too.]

I suppose not. Those things can be left to scholars.

Yeah, I was made to fight, everything else was just a distraction.

It did. But, I've been at this too long to care any more.

And that seems sadder still, to be driven to apathy from a lack of choice.

I can see your point. I wouldn't bother feeling sorry for me, though. I do what I have to do.

I suppose we all do what we have to do, in those situations.

I'm not complaining much. I did my bit to help out humanity in my time.

It is discouraging to believe that humanity could not rise above conflict and strife entirely in a thousand years.

Well, apart from the Rebels causing a ruckus on the Outer Colonies, the UNSC has kept the peace. Until the Covenant came.

So it still was not lasting.

Nope. I've heard we've got some peace in my future, though. We managed to drive back the Covenant, apparently.

That's good, at least.
