As some of you may recall, there's been an expedition planned for some time now. However, between rapid world changes and the recent silence of its proposer, we've yet to set a date for departure.

The destination is a place on the map called Lastlook, of which a painting was found in the room hidden deep in the Insolitus. Aradia Megido has been organizing this trip, but another troll [she didn't catch your name, Kanaya] informed us she was quite unconscious. Should she not regain consciousness soon, I'll be happy to take over whatever organization she has already planned. The trip is expected to take two or three weeks, as much of it is to take place outside the powered zone. I would strongly recommend bringing a mount on this trip, and as it appears to be a, er, seaport, it wouldn't hurt to have some skill with watercraft as well.

If anyone has any questions, I'll be glad to answer what I can.

Do they grow any more after that? You know, change into something else?

Twice is the maximum for any known Pokemon. Cleffa, the baby form, turns into Clefairy, which turns into Clefable. Though some don't evolve at all - we still have much to learn about them, as you can clearly see.

So the ones that don't evolve--does that mean they're born at their maximum strength? [Somehow that doesn't seem right to the ninja. There should always be room to grow.]

Oh, they still learn new abilities and become stronger the more they grow, but because their starting strength is so much higher the change is much less dramatic than an evolution.

So theirs isn't as noticeable as those that go through that sudden change, and people may not know they've become stronger, right?

Precisely. It's exactly the same as someone developing their abilities with a Cruxis Crystal. They may look the same to a casual observer, but a battle will reveal the truth.

Or like the ExSphere, right? Talk about having the element of surprise. [Something she's impressed with.]

I think I might like Pokemon.

That's exactly right, and you can see how I was so comfortable among them when that's the case.

Yeah! I wasn't tense or anything around Curry. It just felt "normal".

Add to that that most Pokemon have some sort of elemental affinity, much like monsters from home, and they're not so very different after all.

You mean like Fire and Air? [Happy ninja is happy.] They're also like the Summon Spirits that way!

Exactly like that, though the elements are slightly different. Curry the Vulpix is a Fire-type, for example.

Actually, I have three that have returned with me. My Delcatty, Jasra, returned to the castle with me almost four years ago after the first time we visited a land with Pokemon. I received my Quagsire, who I'd befriended there as well, that Christmas. And then my Ampharos returned with me as well as the other two when the world changed from Unova.

[Sheena can't help wondering if that's another reason why she felt comfortable with the little Pokemon. Then again, she's always liked animals to begin with.]

Three? How many times does Paradisa make it possible to meet them? [She has no idea what Christmas is, so she ignores that as she comes to the conclusion that it's every two years.]

[She didn't know what Christmas was either, at first. Now it's a tradition at the castle.]

To my knowledge those were the only times anyone here has visited a land with them, but there are still several at the shelter in town without partners - and likely a few more still living around the castle, especially in the forest or the plains.

There are some at the shelter? No one told me that. I was led to believe that none were still here. Maybe after the expedition I'll go see about one. I'd hate to get one before such a trip.

Hmm. Well, I could be wrong, but I certainly believe there are a few. Perhaps there were none before, but that is where they tend to end up when their friends depart without them.

Still, it wouldn't hurt to check to see. And if there aren't, I may find something else to adopt.

Indeed. I like the companionship very much, myself.

Yeah. I think I would, too.
