Nine Truffula Trees
[The journal can pick up a lot of clanging and banging today, why? Because the Once-ler’s got his inventing groove on. York asked for a duplicate of his wagon-cottage-mahome and well, he’s happy to deliver. After all, it’s something he can do inside the safe confines of his room...with the the ‘mahome’ part at least. The rest? Well that may require leaving his safe haven, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices for science. He also appears to be singing while he works]
♫ We could while away the hours
Da da de da le da dedo
There would be lots and lots of flowers
And you could sit on a gazebo ♫
...It still doesn’t sound right.
[Not noticing his journal was open for that, he wanders over to his drawing board where it’s popped up to dictate into it]
Okay. Opinion time. When you're camping out, what's more important to you:
A: Having a working shower
or
B: Having a skylight

...This filter could go wrong in about ten million ways but that’s what you get for having an un-unique name.
Someone mentioned you had some scrap metal laying around your TARDIS. You using it for anything?

I always carry some food with me, and my weapons, and extra supplies of ink, and some extra items I might find around, oh and money, because you never know when you'll find something interesting in some store. But, yeah, light. What about you?
no subject
Ink. That's an odd one, food and weapons I can understand, but ink?
Oh, I usually have a wagon when I travel, but it holds my home as well.
no subject
I need it for my brush techniques. And writing. Just like now.
Do you travel a lot?
no subject
Big fan of the writing thing, huh?
Not any more, no. I settled down. Well...before I came here, anyway.
no subject
You must be excited then, with the next expedition coming.
no subject
I'm not really...going. But it'll be nice to hear some feedback on it.
no subject
Aw, man, why not?
no subject
I don't leave me room. I've got a hermit thing going on.
no subject
[A paaaaause...]
You must not get much sun if you're always in there. How old are you?
no subject
Not with my windows barred, no. [And he gets NO SUN back home, what with all that smog blocking it out and all] ...Twenty six.
...Why? What's that got to do with anything?
no subject
... You have your windows barred?! [THE HORROR! He must be so pale too!]
Because I've only heard hermits were old men! You're only a kid!
no subject
Yeeees? I don't want the sunlight coming in.
I'm training myself up ready for it. When I'm an old man I'll be the best at it.
no subject
D: WHY NOT!?
[Excuse her that sounds so SO WRONG!]
... are you even listening to yourself? What was your name again?
no subject
Because I don't want it to come in? The explanation is kind of already there.[No. It's not]
Oh goodie here comes another 'you shouldn't lock yourself away from the world' lectures. Those things never get old. I'm the Once-ler.
no subject
Hey, if you've heard the lecture before then I'm not going to bore you, but what did the Sun ever do to you?
I'm Amaterasu.
no subject
Oh good, thanks. I appreciate that. And it's not what the sun did to me. It's what I did to the... look, it's a long story and I don't like telling it. I'm just quietly festering in my guilt, and it would be cool if people would let me do that.
Nice to meet you.
1/2
Nice to meet you too, really. And about the brushes...
[Draws a circle:]

[Okay. THAT? Really freaking cool]
Wow! How does it even do that?

I'm not sure how to explain how it works. I've had them since I can remember, they help me with my duties and stuff. I'll try to explain if you really want to know, though.
no subject
I know. Knew a guardian spirit back home, but he worked very differently to that.
