[Dairine has been quiet for a while. Lots of friends and acquaintances have gone back home since she’s returned to normal, most in the permanent way. And to make matters worse, a few days ago Dairine's realized that its been over a year since the event that brought her family down to three. Rather than let herself drown in it all, she's been keeping busy, researching new spells and tinkering with a few projects. But she can't ignore the pain forever.

Which is why Dairine sits down this evening with her journal and a pen.]

You, my good sir, are an idiot. A well meaning one, but an idiot nonetheless.

I’m glad that you got to go home. You have a long life ahead of you, one that will lead to fame and glory and much boredom for high school literature students. [She laughs a little.] Kidding, kidding. Still, it wouldn’t do to have you pinning away here forever, would it? And now you can gamble and drink to your hearts content… though I suggest not overdoing it.

Don’t get me wrong – I’ll miss you. But I already knew about you before I met you. And I’ll still remember you when I go back home, even if I lose the memories of our time together.

God, I’ve met a famous writer and the worst part? I won’t even be able to brag to my sister when I get home! How am I going to tell her about the grand adventures of Dairine and Chaucer? Eh... guess I’ll have to hold out. Maybe she’ll come here eventually.

Well, thanks for the letter. It was nice knowing you for as long as I did.
