The Carnival! (DAY ONE)

[Around 11:00am, the rides and vendors and stands suddenly appear, bustling with sounds and movements as the carnival spins to life. Throughout the day, all kinds of foods, rides, and games are available, but around the carnival signs are posted about a raffle that evening, with the items listed. Wait, did that belong to you? Well now it's up for raffle! Come buy tickets from any of the ghosts with said tickets slung across their shoulders like a sash.]

(ooc: There will be one section for the actual raffle - an ooc post will be up in a couple moments to claim the items- but other than that, go wild!)

You're still here.

[ While she knows some aren't entirely happy about remaining, she's glad to see another familiar face still around. The direwolf beside Arya looks Steve over curiously. ]

[valuedstrength]

[Seeing Arya stretches out that already wide smile of his. Steve is happy for a familiar face too.] How can I leave when the Carnival is in town?

[Now it's Steve's turn to be curious as he gives her direwolf a once over. They don't have those in Brooklyn and he doesn't recall seeing one overseas.]

It's good to see you again, Arya. I don't remember your friend there.

[persequor]

You didn't meet her. She was in the woods. Her name is Nymeria. She's not a wolf; she's a direwolf.

[ Nymeria, almost at Arya's shoulder and still growing, nuzzles Arya's arm. Arya hugs her around the neck one-handed. ]

[valuedstrength]

What's the difference if you don't mind me asking? Is it just the size? [He doesn't think normal wolves are that big anyways.]

[persequor]

The head is bigger with a longer muzzle. They can break through bone with their teeth. They're more intelligent too and they have no fear of men. A wolf won't hunt men, but a direwolf will.

[ She speaks in the tone another girl might have affected to discuss dress colors. ]

[valuedstrength]

[Steve takes in the features as Arya describes the differences though his eyes flicker back to the girl at that last part. It's troubling for obvious reasons. No one mentioned a wolf or dog attack as far as he's known so Steve is willing to assume the direwolf is just that well trained.]

So how did you end up with one?

[persequor]

I raised her. [ Obviously. ]

[valuedstrength]

I meant more along the lines of how did you end up with her at all? Is that something your people do? Raise direwolves?

[persequor]

No. There'd been no direwolves south of the Wall for hundreds of years until my brothers found her mother. She'd died so they brought her litter home.

[valuedstrength]

I guess it's lucky your brothers were around. Say have you tried any of the games yet? You probably can't take your friend on bumper cars or the ferris wheel, but there's a lot of other stuff to check out.

[persequor]

[ She shakes her head. ] I've not tried any.

[valuedstrength]

I bet you'd be great at ring toss.

[persequor]

Which one is that?

[valuedstrength]

It's the one where you try to throw rings onto glass bottles. It can be a little tricky.

[persequor]

To what end?

[valuedstrength]

You get prizes if you win. Stuffed animals and other toys like that.

[persequor]

I don't care for toys.

[valuedstrength]

Really? What about just test of skills? You can always give the toy to someone else. [It's more or less his game plan.]

[persequor]

I guess.
