The Carnival! (DAY ONE)

[Around 11:00am, the rides and vendors and stands suddenly appear, bustling with sounds and movements as the carnival spins to life. Throughout the day, all kinds of foods, rides, and games are available, but around the carnival signs are posted about a raffle that evening, with the items listed. Wait, did that belong to you? Well now it's up for raffle! Come buy tickets from any of the ghosts with said tickets slung across their shoulders like a sash.]

(ooc: There will be one section for the actual raffle - an ooc post will be up in a couple moments to claim the items- but other than that, go wild!)

Why? [ She tries peering around him as if the aforementioned salsa would be right behind him. ] What's it look like?

[encryptedlock]

See, I'm not sure. Salsa is supposed to be a spicy sauce, and you can't deep fry a sauce. It sounds suspicious to me.

[Yet he seems to be perfectly okay with deep fried Twinkies. Go figure.]

[persequor]

Probably best not to try it. I don't think I've had anything spicy. Dornish food is supposed to be, but I've never been to Dorne.

[ She had never been below the Neck before either and that trip ended so well for her and her family. ]

And I've never even heard of Dorne, so. Probably a good idea anyway. Most of the spicy foods here should be pretty clearly marked.

[Just fried or on a stick.]

[persequor]

Where are you from?

[encryptedlock]

Place called New York City, 26th century Earth, if you're familiar with it at all. It's a great place, but I haven't been home in a long time.

I heard this place turned into it once, and I gotta say I'm sad I missed it. I would have liked to see it again.

[persequor]

I've heard of Earth? What's it like?

[encryptedlock]

My city is pretty great. It's huge and full of people, full of life in a way that this place never will be. [York munches idly on his Twinkie, looking a bit unfocused.]

Lots of tall buildings everywhere, lots of technology. It's a spaceport and a seaport, so there are always ships coming and going. You can get lost on the streets and never surface - or become one of the great leaders. It's a city of opportunity.

[persequor]

[ That sounds like what she was told of King's Landing before getting there—the truth proved very different. ]

You must miss it a lot.

[encryptedlock]

[He smiles sadly.]

Well, yeah. The chances I'll ever go home are pretty low, so.

[persequor]

How long have you been here?

[encryptedlock]

Let's see, it's August now so...three and a half years.

[...Damn, it does sound like a long time now.]

[persequor]

And you've been here the entire time?

[encryptedlock]

Well, yeah. Except when we go out camping or the world shifts a little.

[persequor]

Shifts? Oh! When it's a different place?

[encryptedlock]

Right! It's usually pretty different then.

[persequor]

I've seen three of those changes. Well, two. The first only a few were elsewhere.

[encryptedlock]

I've been around for a lot of them. I kinda like the change of pace, but sometimes they can be a bit rough on my friends who aren't human.

[He nods over to the direwolf.] Don't know if she'd be happy as a Pokemon, for example.

[persequor]

A what?

[encryptedlock]

These little--kind of like animals, really, except people trained them for fighting and protection. My buddy Delta got turned into a little--oh, show her what it is, D.

[There's a voice that seems to come from York's armor.] Complying. [And then there's a translucent hologram of a Bulbasaur projected on the ground next to York.]

[persequor]

[ At least she's somewhat familiar to faceless voices and holograms thanks to Tony. ]

Is that a plant on its back?

[encryptedlock]

[That does make it easier.]

Yep. I guess a seed is planted on it when it hatches, and it grows along with it. They're pretty cute.

[persequor]

But where do the roots grow? Into it? [ WHAT KIND OF NIGHTMARE PLANT IS THAT ]

[encryptedlock]

I think it is the roots, in a way. It's kind of weird. But they're actually really cute up close.

[What is Pokemon science?]

[persequor]

I guess…

[ So weird. So, so weird. ]
