[Kallen's on the roof, watching people down below as she eats her lunch. Mid sandwich bite, something occurs to her, so she opens the journal and speaks into it with a casual tone.]

I just realized that my two year mark in this place was a few days ago. It's weird to think that much time's gone by already, but things seem to go by either quickly or slowly here. I still haven't found a happy medium, if one exists. Maybe I'm fooling myself with that.

[She exhales and takes another bite of sandwich before pausing to filter.]

It's probably a little different for me because the place I come from is pretty shitty anyway. People complain about how bad this place is, sure, but that just kind of makes me jealous. They'll get to go home to a better place eventually. Some of us won't.

[Her voice grows sort of solemn now, as it hits her.]

It sucks for all of you, doesn't it?

[Kallen makes a noise of acknowledgement.]

So I've been told.

I hear it gets better eventually, though.

Does it? Good. Rook wouldn't talk much about it.

It probably isn't over for him yet, either. But I hope he makes it.

You and me both, but it's something I try not to think about much, as bad as that is.

Pretty easy to forget most of the time here, anyway. But if there was any way to help everyone back home, you know I'd be doing it.

I never forgot with Rookie, couldn't if I wanted to. So I guess by extension, it's the same with you guys. Plus, the armor's a pretty constant reminder if anyone needed one. [She makes a thoughtful noise.]

If there was a way to help, plenty of people would.

A few people would help, anyway. [York, your belief in the selfishness of Paradisans is showing again.] But that'd be more than enough to help.

Not everyone's accustomed to war, but if the thought's there...

Well, and none of us have magic or superpowers. Hell, even someone like Tony Stark could help turn the tide. [Not that he's bitter about other worlds with superhero defenders.]
