[Kallen's on the roof, watching people down below as she eats her lunch. Mid sandwich bite, something occurs to her, so she opens the journal and speaks into it with a casual tone.]

I just realized that my two year mark in this place was a few days ago. It's weird to think that much time's gone by already, but things seem to go by either quickly or slowly here. I still haven't found a happy medium, if one exists. Maybe I'm fooling myself with that.

[She exhales and takes another bite of sandwich before pausing to filter.]

Do you think it gets harder or easier as time goes on?

Well, for some people, angst is a part of their every day schedule. [LITERALLY] But the view is nice from up there, so I guess maybe that's a part of it.

It's calming at least, that's what I can think of.

Hmm ... maybe that's it, then. I have a teammate at home who likes to just lay there and watch the clouds all the time.

So he angsts and watches clouds?

[ino]

[she laughs]

Well, I don't know about angsts. He's just lazy as hell.

[That makes her laugh as well.]

Then that's not brooding!

[ino]

Well, it's probably calming, is what I mean ... ! But really, if he was brooding about anything, it'd be something like -- [puts on a fake deeper voice to imitate him] "My life is so hard, Ino yelled at me earlier about having my shirt on inside out."

[And Kallen puts on a high voice to imitate Ino!]

"I only yelled at you because you look like you got dressed in the dark with your eyes closed!"

[ino]

"Yeah, well, it's too troublesome to turn on the light or open my eyes ... !"

[ardor]

"Next you'll say it's too troublesome to breathe!!"

[ino]

[there's just a sound of her sucking in a big breath and them closing her mouth like she's holding her breath]

Mmf.

[ardor]

[Kallen just dissolves into giggles now, unable to continue.]

[ino]

[she lets out her breath and laughs]

Okay, okay, he isn't that bad.

[ardor]

But close?

[ino]

Well, he failed pretty much every test in school because he was too lazy to pick up the pencil, so ...

[ardor]

Sounds close enough to me.

He's still breathing, so there's that at least.

[ardor]

But that's an involuntary function, so it doesn't really count.

I guess you have a point there ...

Well, he got promoted before the rest of us did? That counts, right?

[ardor]

How did that work?

[ino]

We have to take a sort of exam to prove we have the skills to move up a rank. It ... sort of got interrupted by an enemy invasion, but afterwards they decided he was the only one who showed the skill to be promoted.

Lazy genius type, huh?

[ino]

Pretty much! He's really smart, he just doesn't ever try.

Yeah, I've met those.
