[Catelyn has reached a state of near panic. It’s not unusual for Arya to disappear for a time. Cat had learned that it was best to give her space. But she always reported in. Because Arya knew Catelyn would worry if she didn’t. So when Arya doesn’t check in, she doesn’t even bother to filter. If it embarrasses Arya, perhaps she’ll speak up to make her stop. If it catches the attention of someone who knows where she is, so much the better.]

Arya Stark, you will tell me where you are this very instant.

I am well aware my daughter has been enjoying her time with you. I have no reason to see you as an enemy here. I hold nothing against you and so I have allowed it. But know that if any harm comes to her while she is under your care, you will not find me merciful or forgiving. Is this understood?

I'm sorry. [ She sounds contrite. Suddenly, her brilliant idea doesn't seem so brilliant. Nymeria is unhappy and her mother is worried. ] I promise to be careful.

Good. [And then a little lighter tone. Because if Arya isn't happy, then what is the point of this whole thing?] Now what was this about a unicorn?

I found one. [ Her tone brightens as she talks about her newest stray. ] They're real! They're not just a story. He's white and looks just like a horse except for the horn and his hooves are cloven. Outside the Dead Zone, there's a rainbow behind him whenever he runs. He's really fast. [ The speed makes up for the rainbow. ] He's the only one that didn't panic when Nymeria got close.

Then he is as brave as his rider. [There's a fond smile in her voice.]

[ She's practically beaming at the praise. It fades as she reads a few of the other conversations. ]

I really am sorry. I didn't mean to cause you worry.

I know.

I will always worry, Arya. It's what mothers do.

I'll be careful to you. I'll filter to you every day.

And you will keep Nymeria close?

She won't leave me alone. She doesn't like it here.

I feel better that she is with you.
