Scroll Thirty Eight

[As much as Spike whines about people coming into the library and messing up his SYSTEM, now so many are out of the castle and NOT doing that, he's bored. It's taken him half the time to organise the sections it usually does, so he's been left with a hole in his schedule.

Such a thing would never happen in Ponyville. Twilight's schedules (and by proxy: his) were filled to to point where to be able to do some tasks required breaking the laws of time and space. Holes in the schedule were rarer than a tap-dancing oyster in a kangaroo suit.

And so, Spike has taken to siding down the banisters of the big winding staircase to see how far he can fly before inevitably meeting the floor with a THUD. After a few goes, even THIS gets boring. Still flopped on the floor, he reaches for his journal and flips it open]

Does anypony want to do something? Anything?

[He was even starting to miss Arya. That couldn't be a good thing]

What's a hacker? Does it mean you're sick?

[jammin_with_ed]

[She giggles] Noo~ooo like a compuuuuuter hacker.

[huffythedragon]

I...don't get it.

[jammin_with_ed]

Edward can show you!

Disa-Disa, Edward wants Edward's compuuuuuuter!

[And poof! Edward's computer is balanced atop her head. How does she manage it? We don't question these things. She smiles as the screen flickers to life]

Computer!

[huffythedragon]

[Years of living with Pinkie has taught him NEVER TO QUESTION THINGS WITH CRAZY PEOPLE]


I know what a computer is. But what do you do when you hack it? Do you hit it?

[jammin_with_ed]

[She shakes her head]

Uh-uh. Edward's sneaky sneaky and can use Edward's computer to take a looksie look at oooooooother computers!

[huffythedragon]

Ohhhhh. Oh man that is so cool! Can you show me?

[jammin_with_ed]

Okay! [She twirls around, pulling the computer off her head and spinning to a stop sitting cross legged on the floor with the computer in front of her. She picks up the keyboard and smiles]

What should Edward do?

[huffythedragon]

Uhhhh I don't know, surprise me?

[jammin_with_ed]

Hmmm oookay. [Her fingers fly across the keyboard and the screen fills with bright colors as she swims through cyberspace. She peeks at a few computers along the way but ends up just darting in the back door she'd created in Castlenet. All of the games and videos and whatnot that had been posted on the Net fly by as she pokes around]

[huffythedragon]

Wow, that sure looks complicated.

[jammin_with_ed]

[She shrugs] Edward taught Edward how to do it.

[She finds some random computer and turns it on. Doesn't seem to be an often used one, though. It's still got all the default icons and wallpaper]

See? Edward found this computer and can look at it from Edward's computer!

[huffythedragon]

You...taught yourself?

[He'll lean in to peer over her shoulder at it] So that's somepony else's computer right now?

[jammin_with_ed]

[she nods] Uh-huh. Edward was all alone. When Edward went on the Net Edward could make friends.

[huffythedragon]

...Well the alone part is sad, but I'm glad you've found friends someway!

[jammin_with_ed]

Edward's not alone anymore.

[huffythedragon]

Nope, and you've got lots of friends here in Paradisa, right?
