Dictated; Open to Action for Kitchen

[modernholmes]

 [Today Conan is in the kitchen.  He's at the table, slightly smug at his victory over acquiring a full mug of black coffee with no adults in the room to object.  As he waits for it to cool slightly he opens his journal and begins to dictate out a few messages.]

Hey, do you still want to learn all about Holmes?  The real Holmes, I mean.  I'm going to be in the library later today if you want to do some reading.

Has anyone heard of any interesting mysteries?  I've been hearing about some place  called Insolitus I want to check out. 

Have you gotten over your tantrum yet?.

There have been some new developments.  We need to talk.
Ne, ne!  I've been wondering something.  What kinds of detectives do you have at home?  It would be interesting to compare, don't you think?

[And with his messages taken care of Conan goes to take his first sip of coffee.  And immediately spits it out in disgust.  The expression of distaste on his face only grows as he identifies exactly what his coffee had tasted like.]

Vermouth?

[Bucky wanders into the kitchen just to see him spit out his coffee. Well, what he assumes used to be coffee.] ...It turned into vermouth?

[Conan is glaring suspiciously at his cup. He really did not appreciate the hotel's sense of humor. But with this person there was no point in pretending he wasn't familiar with the differences between different kinds of alcohol.]

That's what it tastes like.

[blue_sniper]

[He wanders over and smells it.] Yep, vermouth. Or something close. I hope it's not all the coffee, because that's what I came in here for. [Which he now starts to make a cup for himself.]

[modernholmes]

This was coffee.

[He slowly drags a chair over to the sink and climbs up on it to pour the alcohol out. He could at least get some water to wash the taste out of his mouth, right?]

[blue_sniper]

Exactly, that's why I'm hoping that the Castle didn't just randomly decide to turn all coffee into vermouth today. [It sounds illogical, but really, with this Castle? He finally gets a steaming cup of coffee and raises it to his lips, taking a sip.] ...Coffee.

[modernholmes]

[Meanwhile Conan nearly chokes at the first taste of the water.]

...I think I'm getting the idea of what this is.

[blue_sniper]

[Bucky looks over at him, and then at the water a bit incredulously.] ...More vermouth?

[ Conan ]

Depends. Are you finished complaining about it yet?

[modernholmes]

Vodka.

[He is so annoyed right now.]

[Sherlock]

Only if you have finished giving me things to complain about.

We don't really have detectives, we have a military that helps police the streets.

[blue_sniper]

A loss, then. [And a strange one at that. And really, he understands the annoyance. He'd be annoyed too.] But why different types of alcohol?

[modernholmes]

No, that isn't the same thing at all. Do you have law enforcement like police?

[And that was the question he refused to answer.]

Perhaps the castle thought it would be amusing to inflict this on a child.

...You are so childish. Are you sure you're a detective?

Um, not really. The Amestrian military runs the law enforcement, it's mostly made up of regular guards and soldiers.

[blue_sniper]

But I doubt that you're a child. How would you be able to tell the difference between alcohol?

I saw a program about it on television once.

[modernholmes]

What kind of legal system do you have?

[blue_sniper]

...Television? [Hasn't been invented yet, and he hasn't really heard about it while he's been here.]

If people commit crimes, they're locked in jail... why?

[He sighs.]

Right. I forgot your time. Television is similar to movies, but the variety of programs is greater and it is viewed within private homes.

[modernholmes]

What about judges and lawyers? Who decides what the punishment is?
