ch.2 Make Your Mark on the Dotted Line [Action]
[Backdated to early this morning]
[As the residents awaken, they find a large note nailed to the front of each of their doors, written in a stylized script, with the first word of each paragraph starting with a large, illuminated letter:]
To all those residents who are in need of employment, who seek adventure, and who are willing to sail under a pirate's flag:
Your presence is requested in the lobby of Cair Paradisa, on this morning of September the 18th. Today I am holding a recruitment for my crew, and am seeking all those of mettle and courage. All are welcome. Trials and refreshments to be held in the lobby from Dawn till Dusk.
Your Fellow Prisoner in Paradise,
Captain James Hook
For those of you who are early risers, there seems to be a certain pirate captain bustling about the lobby. At his direction, the castle ghosts are rearranging some of the tables and laying out a spread of food. Hook sits himself behind a large wooden table with several large papers in front of him.
On these papers, the rules of recruitment are stated:
All those here undersigned agree to follow their captain, one James Hook, and obey his commands. To each man here undersigned, a percentage of all profits of this venture will be doled out in measure of his position.
Positions available:
OFICERS
First mate:
Second Mate:
Third Mate (Boatswain):
Quartermaster:

Re: I understand compleatly
What business place did you have in mind exactly?
no subject
I plan to acquire some land in the town to build a... recreation hall of sorts. Gambling, drinking, carousing; the sort of appetites that the common folk oft find amusing.
In my brief time here there are two qualities that nearly all here posses: The first, a constant need for entertainment. The second, a distrust of the castle.
I suspect that by building a place outside the castle for residents to go to find entertainment, or at the least distraction from boredom, I will be able to gain some measure of standing here.
But, where are my manners. I do not believe I have learned your name.

For now just refer to me as R.B.
Would you be open to a little advice as one professional to another?

My number one concern for this little venture is that as you've already outed yourself as a pirate...any potential business you open will automatically be on the radar of every goody two shoes and superhero in the land.
It'll make it a bit difficult for the morally deviant residents to conduct business behind the scenes discreetly if the place is already under surveillance.
Villain Filter, just to be sure
I don't doubt that the do-goods of this place have pricked up their ears, but that would have happened sooner or later. My mask shall be that not only villains will be welcome, but all those who seek entertainment. I hope to hide the schemer amongst the common reveler. From what I've read in the Journal (and indeed from the reactions of some whom I've met), the Pirate seems to be somewhat romanticized, and I hope to capitalize on that. Until such time as plans and opportunity allow, I will remain the Jolly Captain.
Villain Filter (Best to play it safe.)
Bless them.
So then...if you're not going to be the public face of this new enterprise then who is? Your first mate perhaps?

I mean say for example if you publically gave the duties of running this venture on a day to day basis to one of your loyal sheep, then they'd take the retribution for any wrong doings. At the same time you would remain untouched and free to keep up the image of the jolly captain.

A most superb suggestion.

That's why I'm the greatest consultant in the land.
Or at least I'm the only one in this particular field.

I will keep you abreast of my progress.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you again.
