You wouldn't happen to know where they're keeping that bird you and the others brought back, would you?

This has been on my mind quite a bit recently- and before I ask it, no I still haven't completely forgiven you for taking away my bunsen burner, even if I was drunk.
But anyways...have you ever tried espresso before? Given your adoration of coffee, I was curious.

[There is actually a long pause here. He honestly doesn't know what to say, after hearing that she had come back.]
...
Never mind.
[Hey, he went over a hundred years without her, he can go a few days more without having to awkwardly talk to her about her return.]

[After writing in those filters, Tesla leans back in his chair with an audible creak, ready to talk to the populace of the castle once again.]
You know...hasn't it been a bit too quiet lately? I'm not talking about the expedition that just came back, I'm talking about the castle in general. Shouldn't one of those crazy castle-wide losses or world changes be happening by now? I mean, it's been too quiet. Too normal...well, if you ignore all the individual losses everyone has from time to time.
Or am I just missing something? Because it feels an awful lot like the quiet before the storm, in my opinion...

Maladict
Oh, the strongest sort of coffee you could get. [He grins, even though she can't see.] Want to go out on the town to try some?
Nikola
[She actually sounds a little amused] Are you asking me out on a date?
[Wait. She should add to that before he gets huffy and she loses the chance of glorious coffee. And spending time with him, she guesses]
Sounds fun. Okay.
Maladict
[He's joking, of course, but at the question, he is silent for a bit, before:]
...Sure. If that's what you want. But...anyways, it should be quite the experience.
Meet me at the lobby doors in a few?
Nikola
[And of course, she'll play this casually. Not important at all. Nope]
Sure, I'll be there.
[And sure enough, she leaves James' bird of death to go hang around the lobby doors to wait for him]
Maladict
[SUCCESS. He'll go make a beeline there as soon as he can, and when he comes up, he'll smile that smug little grin and gesture towards the doors outside.]
So? Ready to go?
Action forever
...Okay and maybe a dagger but that's besides the point.
[She'll give him a fangy grin and start to head outside]
For extra special coffee? Always.
Action forever
[He'll follow her, striding along with an easy gait and wide grin.]
Oh, I know you'll like it...just promise me you won't jump off the roof afterwards, alright? It's pretty strong.
no subject
[She deeply considers this for about half a second]
I make no promises. That said, chances are it can't beat Klatchian, but if it comes a close second, I'll call it a win.
no subject
[And a laugh.]
Hey, if you like it in general, that's still a win for me. The worst thing, I'd think, is you spitting it out, or throwing the cup at me without even finishing it.
no subject
And waste coffee? Not likely. [Oh wait, she should add something there] And I suppose the violence towards you would be unwarranted too. Probably.
no subject
[A chuckle.] Good to know. At least I won't get out of this with a scalded face if it all goes downhill.
no subject
It can't be any worse than that decaff stuff I had. I don;t care what anyone says, that is not real coffee.
no subject
Oh, I think over half the world would agree with you where I come from. People practically have coffee rushing in their veins, they're so into it.
no subject
Still, I suppose you'll do.
no subject
[And then he pretends to look wounded.] Mal, just because I don't drink coffee by the gallon doesn't mean I don't appreciate it every once in a while. Really.
no subject
[That's getting a pointed look] So you're saying you're going to drink some. Now. With me.
wow latteeee
[An ever so innocent look back at her.] Why not? I do drink other beverages other than wine, Mal, even though it might be hard to believe.
NEVER FORGIVEN
[She is so suspicious. She looks him up and down and squint her eyes, before giving a shrug] Okay, I'll buy that explanation. For now.
SOBS, LEAVES FOREVER
[And, ah, here they are. He opens the door for her like a proper Victorian gentleman (James would be proud).] After you.
no wait I changed my mind come back ;;
[Yeah that just gets a look. What's this treating her like a lady business, Nikola?] I'll let you off this once because it's obvious you're trying.
[That's about as close to a thank you as he'll get as she wanders inside]
/comes back ;;
[And he follows her inside before heading to the counter, leaning over with a wide smile as he asks the man standing there for two espressos.]
You want anything in yours, Mal? Any chocolate, creamer? I suppose you'd just like it black...
/squishes you
[She pulls a face. Don't you start putting THINGS in her coffee man] As black as the night thank you. I don't need it ruined by cow juices.
no subject
[FINE FINE, WOMAN here is your completely black coffee.] The way you say that makes me never want milk in my own coffee now. Ugh. Cow juices...
Drink up.
no subject
[Delicious black coffee] You're welcome. Enjoy the mental images that come with that description.
[She sniffs it tentatively, before taking a sip] Hey, this isn't half bad at all.
no subject
[He makes a face while he sips his own.] Yeah. Thanks a lot. [And then a triumphant grin when she says she likes it.] See? And you were doubting me.
