'A man named Ray Stanz told me to speak with you about Chimera and the Peace patrol. Being a Magic user and a soldier, I am told I can offer some help.'

[Jade's eyebrow has grown back, his room is returned to normal, and he's found himself with little to do, seeing as there's nothing specific to do with the Host Club and he'll be waiting to see about that filter soon. So, he's out on the roof testing out some theories as to how to use spells without the use of his voice.

He can generally be found here with little glowing balls of light, occasionally conjuring up a small fireball or spheres of other elements.]

It comes down to what interests you specifically, then. There is research, experimentation, and defense. The latter of course is usually conditional on emergencies.

'What kind of experimentation?'

Various things. I'm particularly interested in combining magic from different worlds.

'Interesting. I imagine there are quiet a few different magics here.'

Quite a few. I wouldn't give you exact count, considering how open people come and go here, possibly even more than I think, depending on what you're willing to define as magic.

'In which case it depends on where you are from. Have you gotten particularly far?'

I wouldn't say that. That is another goal of mine, though perhaps an unreachable one - to define what magic is.

But no, not particularly. The only practical exercise I've actually undergone was to test another type of magic against my wards.

However, Arthur Pendragon has been wanting to rebuild the outposts we lost a few months ago. I mean to install wards in those, which should prevent their loss a second time. I'd like to use them as a smaller scale test to see if multiple wardings from multiple magics can coexist or, even better, work together.

[There's a bit of a lull in the words, but Jade writes back after a while.]

'Ahh, defining magic would indeed be rather difficult, specifically concerning this place.

While I don't mind assisting in any scientific ventures you have, such as with the wards, I'd be most useful in defense.'

In that case, I can offer you two options. First, you become a full member of Chimera and assist as you see fit, which will give you access to our headquarters and workrooms, or, if you would prefer, become an independent agent in our service. I can contact you for practical applications as needed, such as installing wards or helping to defend the residents in case of some kind of threat, but you wouldn't be party to any other research or data gathering.

In either case, I would like to request information about your magic for my records and to know what it is you are capable of in that regard.

[Jade seems to ponder on this for a moment before he answers.]

'I'd likely be little help with warding. I'm offensively trained. Joining Chimera and the Peace Patrol officially would likely be of better use.'

[At the request for an explanation, Jade sighed. He supposed he'd have to anyways.]

'To begin with, my magic's source is from the core of the planet. In my world, they begin as Memory Particles, are distributed throughout the planet via the Planet Storm and converted into usable Fonons'

[A small diagram which simply reads 'Planet Storm' (Radiation Gate -> sends out fonons|| Absorption Gate -> absorbs excess/used fonons) "Recycling at its finest".]

'My body is made up of interconnected Fon Slots where I gather and store the fonons until I can use them. When I do need to use them, fonons are gathered into my body and the incantation completes the spell, forming it into whatever I need at present. Being mute for the time being, I've been able to convert it to writing.

As for my capabilities, my Artes are elementally based. Fire, Earth, Water, Air (including lightning), Light, and Shadow. I've been told those are the more common names for them. However, as of now, my four largest spells are inaccessible, given the oddity of the writing method. Regardless, my other spells are more than enough to get any job done. Hopefully, with a bit more work, I can access them again.'

[After all that, Jade put his pen down and shook out his wrist, lightly massaging it afterwards. he really despised explaining.]

[He may not know your pain, Jade, but he kind of loves you for it. Powers, if he could just get more people to spell it out like this he'd be doing so much better with his research]

I can put you in touch with the Peace Patrol, if you wish to work more directly with them. Chimera is stationed to assist in such matters when magic is a factor, or in any general emergency, which is why warding is of particular interest to me.

Which of those types do your warding spells fall under?

'Would I have to choose between the two? I was told Chimera was a part of the Peace Patrol.'

[At the question, he thinks a moment, more stalling for his hand to recover before he gets carpal tunnel or the like.]

'They would fall under a category I don't possess; the Seventh Fonon, as it were. The fonon of sound is responsible for healing, warding, and most non-offensive magics. That is the only fonon I do not have any control over.'

No. We are considered a branch of the Peace Patrol, but if you wish to be involved in the more day to day aspects of it, then it is them you'd do through. Either way you can still work with both.

Because of being mute, I take it?

'Splendid. Is there a specific person in charge I should speak to about officially joining them?'

[Jade likes talking to Felix, but his hand is beginning to hurt from all this writing.]

'No, I've never had any control over it. One who can freely control all seven fonons in my world in unprecedented and, to date, no one in my world has ever accomplished such a thing.'

[Not without dire consequences, that is.]

'I'll get in touch with them, then. Thank you.'

[Jade smirks wryly, the writing pausing.]

'I guess there should be some balance.' [Much to his chagrin.]
