Wedding Post

[when the guests arrive they will see that the garden is in beautiful fall colors. They have chairs set up, and lanterns are hung up for when it grows dark. They are free to mingle until the ceremony starts. The fountain is nearby as well]

One of the most intriguing, and, at times, the most frustrating aspects of Paradisa is the varied nature of its residents. We are brought here across time and across worlds. We are any number of races, faiths, and hail from innumerable backgrounds. Yet we gather here to celebrate that which binds us all- love.
The love of friendship which has filled these seats with so many smiling faces. The love of family- both those bond by blood and those who have found each other here. [She takes a moment to smile at Phoebe.]
And above all, the love between Phoebe Halliwell and Peter Petrelli, two souls who have decided to bind themselves together in spite of the uncertainty that pervades all our lives here. For whatever may come in the days that follow, they are certain in themselves and in each other.
It is their wish to be bond in a handfasting and they have given the honor of officiating to me. At this point, I believe it is customary to ask if both bride and groom are here of your own free will. Phoebe? Peter?

She nods, her gaze turning to Peter as she replies]
I am.

[And here she waits for the vows she knows each have written.]

Peter. The day after we met you saved my life. [She smiles] It's become pretty indicative of our entire relationship. Whenever I've needed someone you've been right there, through good and bad, loss and gain and I've strived to do the same for you. From the moment we met I knew you were one of the kindest, sweetest most compassionate people I've ever known. You have a good heart and it shows in everything you do. I'm thankful every day that I met you and consider myself blessed to have you in my life.
[She takes his left hand, holding a ring in her other hand. She meets his eyes with a smile, tears already threatening to spill from her eyes.]
My world is better for having you in it and I can't imagine spending one moment without you. [Her voice cracks and the first tear slips down her cheek] I love you, Peter. And with family, friends and the Goddess as my witness I give you my heart. [Her hand trembles as she slides the ring onto his finger] With this ring I promise to love and cherish you. To help keep our days safe and full of joy and laughter. [There's a hitch in her voice as more tears escape the corners of her eyes] I vow to be your wife and partner in all things and to walk this path with you as we're meant to - together.

[he takes out the ring, smiling at her]
Today before all our family and friends I give you my heart. [there is a tremor in his voice but his hand manages not to shake as he slides the ring on her finger] With this ring I promise to love and cherish you. To stand by your side through good times and bad, the ups and downs of this place. I vow to be your husband and partner and face whatever comes next together.

Would you now take each other’s hands?
[And, as soon as they do, she’ll loosely wrap the cords around their hands, finally tying a little knot in the rope. She continues to speak as she does so.]
Your vows, your love, and your pledges to one another already bind you more closely than aught else could. Let these cords, then, be not that which holds you together, but rather a reminder of those more intangible ties and a sign that you have declared them in the sight of kith, kin, and all that you hold holy.

This moment feels more right than almost anything else that's happened in her life. She can practically feel Destiny smiling on them as she holds her breath, waiting for Galadriel to continue.]

It is my honor to declare you husband and wife; may the sun shine always on your path. You may now kiss the bride.
