For those of you who may not have heard yet, ah, Martel and I are planning to be married while in the castle. We haven't quite decided on the date yet, in part because...

Well, to be perfectly honest, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing as far as trying to plan a wedding. The only real detail we have settled is that we want to have it in the castle gardens.

...And in that vein...suggestions, checklists, or any other assistance any of you can render would be very much appreciated.

Not especially, but...the problem is that you say there's 'a lot to put together', and I don't even have a concrete list of what those things are.

Well, the most important things are what you and Martel are going to wear, what your bridesmaids and groomsmen are going to wear -- and who they're going to be -- and then the decorations, the food, the cake ...

It's not, but it's not a real wedding if you just elope.

I wasn't serious, anyway. It's just...fashion. And socializing. And a whole host of things completely outside my normal skill set.

Well, I'm sure someone would be happy to pick out something to wear for you. As for socializing ... it's not like you're that bad at talking to people.

When I want something from them. Talking just for the sake of talking is...different.

Well, regardless, it's not something I'm familiar with. I suppose nobles might have large enough weddings to warrant hiring someone to plan it, but there aren't enough to make a career out of it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but given that Martel and I have been engaged since some four thousand years ago, this is really more than a bit overdue in our case.

In my defense, she was dead for most of that time.

...And that's been a bit of an adjustment, really. But we're making up for lost time now.

I'm afraid I don't have experience in wedding planning. I've been known to put together a soireé or two, but that mostly involved rounding up guests. We had servants for the rest of it.

That's quite all right - I'm just a bit overwhelmed. I'd been considering preparations for the guests and such, but I haven't even begun to think about things like what I'm going to wear. I wonder if she's picked out a dress...

Well, that's probably something you should ask her. I know enough about women to know she'll want you to coordinate with her. Is there something traditional for that where you're from?

I'm older than most current traditions of my world, and I've never been much of one for empty ritual in any case. I'd rather have something meaningful than traditional.
