[if anyone is familiar with Percy's voice, they will notice that he sounds younger as he speaks to the journal today]

Hey, book. Do you know where my mom is?

[he shakes it but nothing happens. Next he decides to bang it on his desk. Aside from getting Magikarp agitated, nothing happens]

This thing isn't working!

Well, sure. What else is that day good for? [remember, he is twelve]

I think I learned it's a day about relationships. If you're in a romantic one, then you try and show them what they mean to you. I remember my parents used to do odd things for each other -- leave notes or have breakfast in bed.

Really...? I hope my dad did that stuff for my mom. She deserves it.

I hope he did, too.

Come on. [She gestures out.] I'll show you where the kitchen is.

You're really helpful.

You'd do the same for me, Percy.

[awkward little smile] Good to know I get such a good friend in the future.

[She leads him on and looks back with a small laugh.]

You were my first friend here. Probably my closest. You've done a lot for me, too.

[follows her. She definitely has that older sister vibe going, and little!Percy wonders if this is what having a sibling would feel like]

[She turns down the hall. She's used to taking care of people. It kind of felt nice. Plus it was Percy. She more than owed it to him.]

What are you hungry for?

Hamburger?

That's not so hard. I've had to cook fancier before. [Once in the kitchen, she starts digging around.]

You can cook?

Not as well as my sister. But yes.

[waterproofed]

I thought you seemed like an older sibling type. [of course so will Percy in another year]

Do I go to school here?

[signedlefthanded]

I have a younger sister and brother.

[She looked back at him as she dropped the hamburger into the pan.]

No. We live here. We were taken from our worlds. We're both from New York, but you're from the future. Or at least the future for me. I seem to be one of the few from as far back as I am.

What do you mean, future?

I'm from 1935.

[waterproofed]

[stares at her] Seriously?

[signedlefthanded]

[She smiles.]

Seriously. You should me what Times Square looks like in your time once.

Wow. This castle can do that? That's awesome!

[signedlefthanded]

Not exactly. It was sort of messing with all of us when it did that.

[waterproofed]

Maybe I was being messed with when I saw my mom-- I mean, you said I said she was okay. So it had to have been some kind of trick or something.

The castle does like to do that. [She flips the burger over.]

The time I hallucinated blood, you stayed with me. The castle took away some of my memories and I didn't know why I had blood on my hands.

But you're okay now, right?
