005 - Crunch (Backdated to this morning)

[It was early morning when Chell had heard the sound outside her door. Leaping up from the floor where she'd fell asleep, she darted to the door, opening it a crack to peer out.

And there, sitting right outside her door are a pair of strange kissing dolls. Very strange. And stranger still? one of them looks like Nora Diniro. She doesn't recognize the other doll, having never seen him face-to-face... BUT she can think of only one person that Nora would be kissing.

Scooping up the dolls, she wanders back into her room, and picks up her journal. Opening the journal, she writes.]

I intend upon leaving the Castle today, and going to explore town for the first time. If anyone would like to come with me, or knows of anything interesting in town that you think I should know about, please tell me. I want to get out and get some fresh air, and walk in these odd crackly leaves people are speaking of.

[OOC: The two kissing dolls are Mark and Nora and are mun-approved. Open for action or over the journals. Feel free to find Chell wandering through town dorkishly, talking to these dolls if you want or over the journals. And per the requests of the muns, after this post, anyone else who'd want to find them can assume that Chell set them outside her door. Forgive the long OOC, but I've never ever done anything involving anyone else's characters in my posts before.]

[Far from minding, Chell thought that sounded like immense amounts of fun. She read the message and grinned to herself before writing back.]

Sure! You can come. I'll climb with you!

[And true to her word, she is exactly that! Today she is just wearing street clothes.]

[Chell is admiring those horns. For one, she's never seen a girl with horns. For two, they're amazing! But being Chell she's trying not to stare. AFter all, she might look a little funny herself, seeing as she's a girl bopping out to the fountain carrying a journal in one hand and a pair of dolls in the other.

Today she's wearing jeans... she'd seen these odd blue pants on people here... with large pockets, so that if they went climbing, she could stick the two strange dolls she's carrying in her pocket. She has a pen clipped over the tie in her messy ponytail.

After she gets over surrepticiously staring at the horns though, she waves and grins. Oh this should be fun!]

[Aradia grins and waves back. This must be who she was writing to! Funny, though, she was expecting someone younger for whatever reason. Oh well :p]

Hi there! Ready to go exploring?

[Chell's face lit up as she grinned emphatically. Heck yes she was ready. Gently putting the two dolls in her pocket, so their heads still peeked out, she started walking, journal still open and balanced on one palm. Slowly she pulled the pen out of her hair and wrote Aradia a message.]

So, what all interesting things exist in this town place?

[Aradia leans over to read the message, but has to wonder why it's written... maybe her loss is her voice? That would suck, but it happened with Sakura. Maybe it would not be super polite to ask about it, so she doesn't, instead ticking things off on her fingers.]

Well, there are lots of shops, if you're into shopping. Food shops, flower shops, clothes shops... oh! and the Candy Bonsai, which of course sells candy. There's also a theater, and a church... and lots of rooftops to climb, which admittedly is most of why I come down here.

[The idea of climbing on rooftops seriously appeals to Chell. Because if you can climb ona roof you can jump off!

Her face lights up again at the thought of jumping off a roof as she skips along next to Aradia. She stops, however, just long enough to write a message.]

I like roofs! Any high places really. They're the best places to be. Except for being in space. That is just too high.

[Aradia giggles a bit at that.] Space is fine, it's reentry that's the problem! Hehe. High places, though? We can do that.

[Without further ado, she runs a few steps up the side of the nearest building, just high enough to let her reach a good handhold and start pulling herself up.]

[Chell can't exactly run up the sides of buildings. But she can balance on her toes, and that's high enough to reach the handhold. Sliding her journal into her pocket, and the pen back into her hair, she's off and climbing after Aradia. Probably not quite as graceful as Aradia, but hey, it's not the grace that matters. It's how you get to the top of the building.

Once on the roof, she stands there, surveying the surroundings. This is really nice. She thinks of jumping off the roof, right here and now... But then she remembers her loss. This will take some forethought... And maybe some ingenuity. But Chell is determined, not that she'd tell Aradia this, of course, but she would do something to propel herself off a roof... even if it could not technically be considered jumping...]

[Meanwhile, Aradia stands atop a convenient crate Captain Morgan style, surveying the landscape with one hand shading her eyes. The one big disadvantage of being nocturnal is that sunny days are just super bright. Even so, she points at a spire a ways off.]

Oh, hey! You can see the church from here.

[Chell shades her eyes with a hand too. She's not nocturnal, but the light in Aperture wasn't ever this bright. Oooh that spire looked very very very nice. Digging out her journal, she sketches in a crude drawing of the landscape, and a message she shows to Aradia.]

What's a church?

[Have fun explaining that. :D]

[Hahaha... you wanted an accurate explanation from this girl? Good luck!]

It's an Earth religious building, kind of like a temple. I knew a couple of guys who used to live there. Oh - and it has a graveyard next to it! I think it may even be a real one. You know, with bodies buried in it. [Naturally, that is the most exciting part.]

[Oh Chell wouldn't know the difference, as proven by her next message...]

What's religion?

Um.

[Oh geez, she has to think about this one.]

Well, I guess it's like... a kind of worldview that some people have? A belief system. And usually it involves gods or spirits, some kind of supernatural element that holds the world together. I've never really been into it, so it's hard to explain...

[Chell nods thoughtfully. that was a good enough answer for her. But she has to write one thing back.]

Like spiritual duct tape?

[For emphasis she draws in a roll of duct tape with sparkles.]

[Laughs a bit.] Haha, I guess you could put it that way! Although I'm pretty sure duct tape covered in special stardust is a better choice for fixing things.

Wanna go see it up close? The church, I mean. I've never actually climbed it, now that I think of it.

[Why yes! Yes she does! Scooting to the edge of the roof, she puts her hands behind her...And propels herself off into space. Stupid inability to jump.

The mechanisms in her boots kick in, and she comes to a graceful landing on the ground, swaying a bit to catch her balance again. Then she grins and waves up at Aradia. Sorry for the heart attack she just gave you!]

[It wasn't really a heart attack, since Aradia kind of assumed Chell knew what she was doing, even if it looked really strange. So she was just kind of. Watching.

She waves back down, though, and decides instead of flying to get herself down the Assassin way: by doing a leap of faith into a conveniently placed pile of leaves! Somewhat miraculously, this actually works and does not result in any broken bones, and she scrambles out of the pile a second later, unharmed. GOTTA LOVE VIDEO GAMES.]

[Chell's a tiiiiiny bit confused at first as to why Aradia's leaping off the roof. After all, she doesn't have Long Fall boots... But it takes her only a few seconds to figure it out, though she doesn't know there's a name for that maneuver.

When Aradia pops out of the leaves, Chell just starts applauding. That was awesome!]

[Aradia laughs and takes a thoroughly unnecessary bow.]

Thank you, thank you! I'm here indefinitely.

[Chell chuckles. Aradia may or may not hear it... But what she said was hilarious. Of course she'd be there indefinitely. Pulling out her journal, she writes...]

Yes. As will I. We are all the Castle's play toys.

[Then she grins, picks up a handful of crunchy leaves and tosses them in the direction of the Castle. Petty? Sure. Fun? Definitely.]
