[Korra's chilling outside the castle on the front steps, her journal open next to her. She makes a small humming noise before sitting up and speaking.]
Okay, the pony thing was weird, and it's really nice to have fingers again, but I have to ask: how many of you guys are still stuck that way? Did you do something to tick off the mystical stripy one or what?
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike ponies, I just can't really see myself as one longterm. Or for more than a week. Maybe it'd be the same if they were turned into humans. Something for someone to think about on a rainy day.

Also, someone tell me what this Halloween thing's about.

Halloween originally started out as a celebration of the dead. It was said that the "veil" between the spirit world and our world was so thin that ghosts and demons would walk among us, and not all of them were nice. Their leader, Samhain, would lead them through the streets and people would wear masks to hide from him, as well as leave treats for the demons to get them to leave their homes alone.
Nowadays, it's mostly an excuse for free candy. Kids dress up in costumes and wander from house to house and the people who live there hand out candy.

The veil between the spirit world and our world? What day is Halloween?

The castle is usually pretty tame around Halloween though. Our last monster invasion was a couple years back.
pouty mcpoutfaces
We don't have it where I'm from, but there is a spirit world I'm supposed to be able to connect to. I wonder if trying something will work on that day.
all the pouty faces
It might be worth a shot. I mean, there are a number of different days throughout the year that are rumored to allow you to better make contact with the other side, but Halloween through All Souls Day are probably the best.
make ALL the pouty faces!
though I think I'm almost out
It's actually a two part celebration. November 1 is All Saints Day -- meant to celebrate the people the Catholic Church made saints, and November 2 is All Souls Day -- meant to recognize friends and family who have died and gone on to the next life.
In Mexico they have this huge celebration called Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. They believe that over those two days, the spirits of their loved ones walk among them, and they set up altars with candies and flowers for them to take with them back to the other side.
s'okay i am too
Mexico's a country, right?

That spirit stuff is totally old-fashioned. All it is now is just putting on dumb costumes and asking people for candy and junk. The point is to get enough to last through Christmas.
