I have questions about weddings.

I need to know these things.

[Mindy will write them down, her writing is mostly printing and it's trying to be very neat.]

1. What do you wear at a wedding?

2. Do I have to get them a present?

3. Should I know anything else about weddings?

1. Something fancy! Not too fancy, because you don't wanna upstage the bride in case she's like one of those crazy ladies on Say Yes To The Dress and tries to stab you in the eye with her high heels. But something really pretty. Find out if there's a colour pattern or a theme for the wedding, and go from there.

2. Well, if you like them, sure! Blenders are okay because everyone likes smoothies, but you can get more original than that.

3. Wow, tonnes, but most of it you can take as you go, I suppose.

Nudge. You are going to have to help me if I ever have to go to one of these things. You sound like an expert.

[ she takes a moment to swell with pride a little. ]

Nah, it's nothing, i just read a lot of magazines and watch a lot of Lifetime and TLC. You can learn a lot of stuff just doing that!

So, is there gonna be a wedding?

I don't think I'm supposed to be talking about it, but my friends are gonna get married. I don't think everyone knows yet. It's probably something that grown-ups are supposed to do.

[Truthfully, Brock hasn't even asked Mol yet.]

Oooooh, I see. If it's supposed to be a secret, I can keep it on the DL no problem. Snag me and invite if you can, okay? I love weddings...

I dunno if I'm gonna get married when I grow up, though.

So, why wouldn't you get married?

I'm actually not sure about what kinds of dances that you should do at weddings, but I can learn that, easy.

Depends on what I decide to be when I grow up! I might not have time for a husband, and all that.

That sounds smart. I already know I don't want to get married. It sounds stupid. I don't want to have babies anyway.

I'm not sure about the baby thing yet. [ she doesn't even know if it's possible, but luckily she doesn't spend much time thinking about that ] Babies are so cute and soft and sweet, but they're also loud and gross and spitty. Talk about your extremes.

Who has time for babies? I am gonna be too busy for that.

What are you gonna do when you grow up?

Fight crime.

[ sounding both surprised and pleased ]

Seriously? Like a superhero? You're not pulling my leg, are you?

Yep. Totally like a superhero and I'm being serious.

[ her candidness is surprising! she hesitates before she asks: ]

So do you go to superhero school or something? For training? I only ask because it seems logical and it doesn't seem like you just decided this out of the blue or anything.

Nope. My dad trained me, and I did it because he did it.

Did it? As in you're already doing it? Do you have a superhero costume? And a superhero name?

[She laughs a bit]

Yes to all of the above. [She figures, it's time that Nudge got let in on her secret, she's just not very good at how to handle it.]

[ there is a healthy pause, and then-- ]

Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but seriously? And your dad let you??

Yup. Totally seriously and my dad trained me. I mean, it was his idea when he got out of prison.

[ 'scuse her while she gets sidetracked; it'll only be for a second ]

Wait, isn't he a cop? And it was his idea to make you into a superhero? That's really weird... and I mean it's totally cool in a way but--

[ and then she stops as something else occurs to her. even though this is a filter, her voice lowers to a whisper. ]

He didn't give you... powers, or anything, did he?

He was a cop but he got framed and went to prison. There was a lot of resentment, I think.

Anyway, he trained me and then we went after the people that framed him and I didn't get powers or anything. Just a lot of training.

[ she tries to let this sink in. whoa. whoa. hmmmmmmmmmmm. WHOA. ]

So you go after bad guys? Here in Paradisa too?

Yep. I patrol at night sometimes.
