So didn't this place used to have, like, ten more floors? What ever happened to those?

[Alex is currently in the dining room, with her feet kicked up on the table, a fashion magazine open in her lap, and a bag of marshmallows in front of her. Feel free to chastise her for getting sneaker germs everywhere - or for eating her weight in sugar this close to midnight.]

I leave you guys alone for, like, three months and you totally rearrange the place. Typical.

[A short pause, and then a thoughtful hum.]

Huh, I guess this week makes a year since I got dropped off here for the first time. Kind of feels like a lot longer with that whole Paris crap. [Her voice raises, like she's trying to be overheard.] Anytime you want to toss me back to New York, that'd be great.

A week. [ Not that longer would make it any bet

[She lets out a sardonic laugh.]

Ah, still in the adjustment phase. I remember those days.

[arealwoman]

Apparently you've had it twice. [ She had been listening ]

Kind of. The second time's the worst. There's less to adjust to, since I remember most of it, but some stuff's just sitting there on the tip of my tongue.

[She makes a displeased face.]

Like people's names. I can remember the thing with the pirates, but I still can't remember people's names. It's stupid.

[arealwoman]

Is that part of the 'taking something away' thing?

[ And have a curious expression ] Pirates?

[delincuente]

Kind of, I guess.

[Completely adequate explanation.]

The castle stuck us on ships this one time. It totally sucked.

[arealwoman]

If you were on pirate ships I'd have to agree.

[delincuente]

Well, some of the people got dropped on smelly old pirate ships. The rest of us got to go on a cruise, which I guess would have been cool, except we got to hear about all the crazy crap happening to everyone else.

[arealwoman]

So you'd rather have been in danger than safe? [ Kids today, really ]

[delincuente]

Of course not, that would have been stupid. But we kept thinking it was about to happen to us. Totally un-fun.

[arealwoman]

You should just be glad it didn't happen to you.

[delincuente]

Yeah?

[She pauses and makes a disgruntled face.]

Alright, this is getting way deep for me. I'm out.

Well you can't change it either way.

[ And she goes back to her yoghurt for a momen, giving a small shake of her head. Too deep? Be glad to be safe ]
