[Nora's chilling out in the lobby today. She's got a boombox by her side as she lounges in one of the chairs with her sketchbook. The recent plague of sins has got her thinking and brimming with new ideas. She's bobbing her foot in time to the music pumping out of the boombox as she puts the finishing touches on Lust.

Whether it's the music itself or an intervention by the castle the speakers of the boombox suddenly EXPLODE, shooting sparks and pieces of plastic everywhere. Nora shrieks and hops to the other side of the couch]

What the fuck was that?!

[Harper is also in the lobby, on one of the couches, working off of a flexi.

At the explosion, he quickly scrabbles over the back of said couch with a yelp, dropping the flexi.]

W...What the hell?!

I don't fucking know! [She stares wide eyed at the remains of her boombox]

[Peeking out and around the couch, he slowly steps out.]

It's enough to make a guy sleep with a weapon.

[And he's going to head on over to the remains of the boombox, nudging them with his boot.]

Everyone's a critic, huh?

Yeah but who're you gonna use it against?

[She scoots closer, peering at the remains of her stereo]

I'll say. I just never thought it'd be that critical.

[inharperwetrust]

It'll make me feel better.

[He crouches down, poking around the remnants.]

I can fix this, if you want.

[eat_me_beat_me]

You can? [she raises her eyebrows]

I didn't think you could fix something like this.

[inharperwetrust]

Well, it might need a little re-wiring, new speakers... But I should be able to fix it up as good as new.

That'd be cool. My boyfriend can do a lot of stuff like that but I don't know if he could rebuild an entire stereo. [she grins]

Shouldn't be a problem. I can get some blueprints and circuit diagrams, get it sorted.

[Chell had wandered into the lobby, and was just... kinda hanging around, listening to the music when the speakers blew. Chell's on the ground in a quarter of a second, diving for cover. After Nora's cry and mad leap to the other end of the sofa, she pokes up her head.]

"Are you ok?"

[eat_me_beat_me]

[Nora looks up at her friend, eyes still wide.]

Y-yeah. Though I can't say the same for my stereo.

[silentrunning]

[Chell walks over to the remains of the boom box. It's a mess. She stares down at it in confusion.]

"Wonder what caused it to explode?"

[And Chell makes an attempt to at least salvage the cassette/CD/whatever that Nora had been listening to. Losing music sucks, even in a castle that allows you to wish for anything.]

I have no idea. [She nudges the remains]

Could've been anything... maybe the castle.

[silentrunning]

[Chell plucks something out of the wreckage and offers it to Nora with a smile. It's still intact, at least. No clue whether it'll play.]

"Here."

[And after a minute's thought...]

"What was the name of the song you played? I like it."

[Nora takes the cassette with a weak smile, looking over the tape dangling out of it]

It's a version of a song called "Somebody That I Used to Know." It's funky, right?

[silentrunning]

[Chell eyes the mangled mass of tape sticking out of the cassette. Yeeeah. That looks pretty bad.]

"I really really like it. Especially that woman singing part of it."

I'll see if I can get you your own copy. [her smile widens]

Do you have a stereo or something you can play it on?

[sounding only slightly out of breath. Okay. Panic starting to subside]

Yeah... yeah I'm okay. My stereo just exploded.

It may have done so in protest to the amount of electronic noise drowning out those eloquent lyrics.

it's called dubstep. It's from a couple decades in my future but it's pretty funky, right?

Not being there in person, I cannot say for certain, but I would suppose that yes, an exploding stereo would both inspire a great amount of fear, and not smell very pleasant at all.

What? No no no I didn't mean funky smelling. Funky like cool or weird in a good way.

... [oh. slang. right. forgive him for being so literal-minded] ... It was certainly weird, but I'm not sure if I enjoyed it. It was a bit jarring for my tastes. Then again, I prefer classical compositions, or on occasion, independent popular music.
