[Nora's chilling out in the lobby today. She's got a boombox by her side as she lounges in one of the chairs with her sketchbook. The recent plague of sins has got her thinking and brimming with new ideas. She's bobbing her foot in time to the music pumping out of the boombox as she puts the finishing touches on Lust.

Whether it's the music itself or an intervention by the castle the speakers of the boombox suddenly EXPLODE, shooting sparks and pieces of plastic everywhere. Nora shrieks and hops to the other side of the couch]

What the fuck was that?!

It may have done so in protest to the amount of electronic noise drowning out those eloquent lyrics.

Not being there in person, I cannot say for certain, but I would suppose that yes, an exploding stereo would both inspire a great amount of fear, and not smell very pleasant at all.

... [oh. slang. right. forgive him for being so literal-minded] ... It was certainly weird, but I'm not sure if I enjoyed it. It was a bit jarring for my tastes. Then again, I prefer classical compositions, or on occasion, independent popular music.

I'm quite fond of a group called The Gothic Archies. They let me stand in for their accordion player, once, on a duck boat cruise.

It's likely just as well you haven't heard of duck boats, they are rather kitschy, a phrase which here means "ridiculous and pointless, created mostly for the entertainment of tourists". They're actually vehicles which have the ability to also travel on water.

But, yes. I do, indeed, play the accordion, and have for many years now.

... His loss? Oh - you mean the item or part of his mind that was taken from him... [he frowns] That's terrible. Music is one of the greatest comforts one can have in an unfamiliar place frought with danger and uncertainty. Once I was trapped in the service elevator of a French bistro and my only consolation until help arrived was the thumb piano I had secreted away in my briefcase. It was, however, dulled by the fact that the only song I could play on it at the time was When The Saints Go Marching In.
theabjectauthor: (I think you should back up a bit.)

At least he has not lost the comforts of music altogether. That would truly be a tragedy.

[he frowns as she laughs at him - really, why doesn't anyone believe him around here] .... No. What would be unbelievable would be the thought that I could presume that anything which actually occurred to me, personally, and at great distress and misgiving, no less, could actually be ridiculous and or unbelievable. A man trusts his own memory, Nora, and I have always had the courtesy and faith to take you at your word.
