[Dirk. Sweet Dirk. You have no idea. Dave is so excited for this, but he feels sick to his fucking stomach. Bro was his hero, hell he's still his hero. Dead or not, he's modelled his life after that guy but he knows damn well he'll never reach the levels Bro got to. He's not a hero, but he can do what he needs to when he needs to.

So, seeing Bro reincarnate is a little intimidating. God, it's like school all over again. His brain keeps asking him what happens if Dirk doesn't like hi. Jesus christ, who gives a fuck?

[Dirk similarly feels sick for also similar reasons. Mainly, he'd never expected Dave to actually avoid him. That part makes him feel... well, really god damn bad. He isn't sure what he possibly could've done to warrant that. In a way he feels indignant, because he hasn't done anything to warrant it. But the indignation pales in comparison to the insecurity he feels about it.

[So, mututally they both feel bad. They're a class act, Striders. Social situations are perpetually beyond them. Dave is begining to realise this, but he's heavily in denial.

He wants to be good at this. He wants to be impressive, but the idea of Dirk thinking he's a weenie is honestly a little scarier than him thinking he's aloof or some shit.
