If it was sudden, not normal. If it gradually slipped away from you, very normal. I've seen magic snatch memories away at home and here. Forgetting can be as painful as remembering.

Is there a way to get either back?

Sometimes. If magic has taken your memories from you, it won't be easy to regain them. When someone dear to me lost their memories of me, I had to fight to get them to remember me. I'm fighting every day to remember the memories I think the castle took from me.

Losing memories on your own... that's harder. You must rely on your loved ones to try and help you remember, if you can, or any items that help. I sometimes forget unimportant things. And then sometimes I forget... [Things he can't say.] big things.
