rose: play dress-up

[In want of a quiet place to knit, Rose has taken her yarn and her needles into the library this morning, and commandeered a table near the back. She's just finishing up what looks like a tiny, purple sweater, but the recipient of the garment doesn't seem to like it took much.]

Edgar, yarn isn't a digestible material. Please refrain from eating your own clothing.

[A tiny black kitten, who's been rolling around on the table, gently drops the sweater sleeve from his mouth before meowing loudly into the journal and hopping off the table to explore the rest of the library.]

Is it, now? I can't say I've heard that particular opinion from anyone other than one Miss Pyrope.

Still slowly discovering whether other creatures are as clear to me as those from my home. [ Nope. Not making any sense of the dots in this book either. ]

Is the fauna here much different from what you're used to?

As far as can tell - most residents are not running screaming of monsters, therefor reasonable assumption that most are far different. Cats, dogs, most birds, very similar. Dragons - new sort. [ A tiny shrug. ]

A great deal of residents do seem to be previously acquainted with species outside of the common domesticated breeds, but I assume that those who are not become familiar with them rather quickly in this environment.

[She takes a brief pause to start back on her knitting, but curiosity is too much.]

What sort of wildlife are you acquainted with in your home world?

Had what could be considered standard small songbirds. Wolves, varieties of bears. Monsters divided into catagories - beast, bird, magic, plant, aquatic, insect, inorganic, scale. ... Do not really know how to describe other than to name some of each catagory. [ Or let her look through his monsterbook. ]

Inorganic? And what, precisely, would an inorganic monster be like?

Moving rocks, golems, chests that are animate, machines. [ Because machines and golems are different. ]

Ah. I suppose that makes sense, in a distinctly disturbing way.

My apologies, I suppose that's a bit of a culturally insensitive opinion. But in the world where I was raised, inorganic denoted non-living.

Most of Terca Lumireis are not... fond, of monsters, likely thus the label, so doubt many would take offense.

I can't imagine that anyone is exactly "fond" of monsters, whatever they consider to fall into the category. But I was more referring to my ignorant assumption about the physics of your world, in comparison to my own.
