[For the moment, Faye is sitting in her room in the castle, curled up on the window nook. Her journal is in front of her, her fingernails tapping lightly on the cover as she stares blankly out the window. With a sigh, she flips open the journal, looking at a blank page before speaking.]

If anyone out there knows how the other me got home, don't hesitate to fill me in.
I know I was originally destined for riches and all, but I just need to get out of this castle.

Where do people live in this place if they don't live in the castle?

[Faye had missed that smile, faint as it was. It had been what felt like ages since she'd seen it. She gives him a smirk in return.]

I don't doubt that.

[Perhaps it was a fond memory.]

[He's quiet for the time it takes for him to suck down the rest of his cigarette, but this one is less uncomfortable than the last. When he's done, he flicks it on the ground and stomps it out.]

Moving out isn't a bad idea. It gets kind of crazy in the castle over the holidays. [Yes, apparently he's already changing the subject.]

[Well, it was good while it lasted.]

That's what I hear.

I can't really recommend anywhere. But it might be better if I don't know about it anyway.

[Or anyone else. Like certain demons that might take an interest again...]

[gottaknockhard]

[He shrugs, unsuspiciously. He's just giving friendly advice here.]

It'd save you some trouble.

[3nterprising]

Tch. Trouble? Out of you? [All the sarcasm! But srsly,]

I guess you're hell-bent on staying out of my life.
[The more she thinks about it, the more painful it actually is. So she tries not to.]

I probably should be grateful for that.

[... You know, he remembers why he doesn't usually give advice.]

What are the odds of that?

[Because it can only end in tears?]

About slim to none.

That's what I figured.

[His reply doesn't have much bite to it though. Too much on his mind to wear him down, he can barely stay annoyed.]

[Bite or no bite, he was speaking truth. He knew her well, whether or not she wanted to admit it.]

So, why did you come all the way to the castle in the shape you're in? Shouldn't you be resting?

[She probably new better than anybody that resting was unlikely for him in the condition he was in, but it was her turn for a subject change.]

[She probably already knows the answer to that. At least part of it.]

I had something to take care of.

[Well, he told her this much...]

Someone's been breaking into my room.

Who would do something like that?

Half the castle, it seems like. Locks don't do a lot for you when they can wish for a key.

[See what a good idea moving out is?]

That sounds like a pain.
[Secretly, she wishes she'd thought of that. God knows what she'd find.]

Well, whatever's in there must not be that important if you left it behind.

[The trouble he has is remembering everything he hid in there. He's still trying to figure out what was so tempting to steal.]

I guess it's more the principle.

Well, how do you know it's people? Could be the castle ghosts, you know.

[gottaknockhard]

Yeah, it could. But this time, I caught him in the act.

[3nterprising]

Oh? Who was it, then?

[gottaknockhard]

[This would be the perfect time to mention that Gren is working with Vicious, but... saying who broke in will only lead to more questions than he has the energy for at the moment.

He'll say that's the reason, anyway.]

Hm. What good will just visiting the room do? Some guy could just come back the moment you leave. Unless you plan on leaving a booby trap or something.

[She'd forgotten just how hush-hush he was about certain things, and in this short period, she quickly re-learned that she wouldn't get an actual answer from him.]

[gottaknockhard]

[So far, he's been more open with her than he ever would have been before. Little steps.]

That's an idea. [She brings up why he's been considering moving back in. It's not like he's avoided that much with his time away -- although he'll probably change his mind again before long.]

What, a booby trap? It'd be easier if you just took everything with you.

[If he moved back in, he'd probably never see the end of her.]
