Fifteen Truffula Trees

[What do they say? Better late than never? The Once-ler has finally organised the giant pile of crap he stole during that virus mess and, unsurprisingly, is no closer in figuring out what belongs to whom. So, very reluctantly, he's opening his journal to dictate into it]

That uh...virus mess. That was insane, wasn't it? Anyway, I might have ever so slightly and accidentally stolen a lot of things, and given you people don't put name labels on any of your stuff (seriously, there are like two hundred people in this place you should learn to label) I don't know where this stuff belongs.

So, if you're missing some stuff, just come to the top of the Impetus Tower. Chances are it's here. I've even organised it so you can get your things and leave as soon as possible.

[He hasn't noticed the nutcrackers. They're just more stuff added to piles of other stuff. Maybe someone collects them? There are weird people in this castle after all. Regardless, he remains oblivious to both them and their power]

[He catches that look, and his shoulders slump a little]

If you want to talk about that, can we just get it over with?

It really happened, didn't it. [That's not a question.] With the Truffula trees.

[His eyes drift over to one of the Unlesses scrawled across his wall]

Yeah, it really happened. I destroyed them all, and the entire Valley with them.

I would expect so with the amount of pollutants that factory was spewing out.

[Dairine's eyes follow his gaze.] And that's why you don't like going outside, am I right? It reminds you of what you did.

I stay inside because I'm in exile. [His eye narrow a little] I lock myself away from the world so I can't hurt it any more than I already have.

[Whoa. She knows he's done something horrible, but that still seems rather extreme.]

Wait, hold up, who exiled you? Because last I checked we are far away from Truffula Valley, so their word holds no weight here.

I exiled myself, that's the whole point. I couldn't fix the damage I did, but I could stop myself from making even more damage.

...And it doesn't matter where I am. I still did what I did, and I still don't want history repeating.
