[In which Cimorene is about to encounter some surprises]

[Today Cimorene can be found in the kitchen, having propped up the journal on one counter as she works.  From the journal can be heard the sound of soft tuneless humming and the clatter of pans as she sorts through them.  Eventually she pauses and stares down at the piles of saucepans and frying pans with an affronted expression]

Surely there must be a flambe pan in here somewhere!

[She hasn't noticed the nutcracker sitting on the counter Post is open for kisses, planned and not..]

[And the grey "boy" carrying two containers of strawberries and a pomegranate will be pausing on his way out of the kitchen, looking over at her.]

A what pan?

A flambe pan. [Her tone is absently irritable, as if she was not paying too much attention to the conversation.]

What is that?

A pan made for flambeing, of course.

...Right.

But what's flambeing?

It is when you set fire to a dish for a moment.

It is rather entertaining. [She smiles as she says this.]

Yeah, it sounds like a way cooler way to cook.

Cooler?

[ He'd popped down to the kitchen to grab a snack, but stopped for awhile to watch the woman who is in a mad rush to pull out every pan in existence that the kitchen has stocked.

Just cutting in rudely when she speaks to the open air, or the journal more accurately. ]

... do they make those?

I used one at home quite often. Really, you would think the kitchen of a castle this size would be better stocked.

My guess, personally? I don't think anyone's ever had need for one before now.

Who does the cooking, then?

Depends who's using the kitchen at the time I'd imagine.

I am beginning to get that impression, yes.

I'm sure you can find something in town if you're willing to make the trip.

I'm afraid I haven't made it into the town yet. But that is an idea.

[ He looks a little surprised by that and stands up a bit straighter. ]

You haven't? New to the castle then?

Very new. I arrived only two weeks ago.

[staggeringego]

[ He makes a tsking sound. ]

Two weeks? Come on now, you could have gotten out to explore a bit since then.

Most of my exploring has been inside the castle so far. [And she'd fallen into thinking that it was best not to stray too far yet.]

Well... it is a big castle. Still, no reason to keep yourself cooped up in here.

I suppose not. [There wasn't anyone here to try to take advantage of what looked like a runway princess here.]

[ No nasty wizards lurking around the corner--

Wait... Well, he's not trying to take advantage of any princesses at least! That's for certain. ]

And then I'm sure you'll find more pans than you know what to do with out there.

I think I saw one in the left-hand cabinet over the second stove the other day.

[Yes, he's here too. In his defense, he's not actually stalking you Cimorene, he came down to do some cooking]

It seems we are running into each other rather a lot.

It does, rather. Though I'm here fairly often. Cooking is one of my easier hobbies to indulge.

I've become very fond of it. It is a very rewarding hobby, I think. [ANd yet more proof this wizard wasn't anything at all like the ones she knew. It was very difficult to picture Zemenar or Antorell ever willingly do any kind of kitchenwork.]
